As soon as I upgrade to this version I can test that.

    SAMBA Share and MAster Browser......

What you need rather is WS Discovery capabilities, which works without SMBv1, and will be available in 384.12. What are the mechanics of this WS Discovery? Is it a particular port that handles the queries of the shares kept track of in the router? I'm not sure how this works. Thanks

    SAMBA Share and MAster Browser......

Just wondering, and I have not seen a recent answer about this. Just to clarify, to have the router act as a Master Browser, the SAMBA share MUST be enabled? Just curious as in my WIN10 machines SMB1 is disabled. The only thing that seems to use it is my NAS. I wanted to have the router as...

(NOOB) Definition of "minimal and manual configuration"

Yes, I reboot after making any setting change. I did not see any useful search results for other master browser recommended defaults other than the one: your note on it as per this thread.

(NOOB) Definition of "minimal and manual configuration"

When you say disable Network Share I assume you mean the SAMBA share? I ask because I cannot get the router to be the master browser without it being enabled? Kinda makes sense, but wanted to make sure. My rationale for this is that I want the router to be the center of all things and not have...

    Wireless issues rt-ax88u firmware 384.11_2

I just went through this with my AC86 router. I had the RMA in hand and was ready to ship it back but after reading more ( or my stubbornness) I followed a lot of L&LD's advice and brought my router back to an angelic state! L&LD is now christened "The Exorcist of ASUS Routers'. Read all of...

Sonos has moved to http share on port 3445 to avoid SMB1

Thanks for that. The instructions are incomplete. I had to create a rule in Defender to allow the Sonos index service access to port 3445. Port scans now work fine, nothing closed on that port in my private network. Thanks for the assist, you pointed me to the right port in the storm....so to...

Sonos has moved to http share on port 3445 to avoid SMB1

Well my understanding is that all external network access to the ports would be closed, but should be passed as part of the internal LAN? My port scanner shows that it closed to the router and speakers all within my private network. Correct me if I am wrong in my assumptions??

Sonos has moved to http share on port 3445 to avoid SMB1

I was having issues with re indexing my Music share on my Desktop, and had some communications with Sonos about this. They had to go to http share because of the SMB1 deprecation and the move away from same by Microsoft. My question is that since the speakers are on my private internal...

    Major Issues w/RT-AC86U

Well, having followed your steps, I felt like Dr. Frankenstein as new life seems to have been born into the router! The router was joined by all the close cables at the awakening, and so far all seems much more stable. Will continue to monitor and ensure that no fire comes near our...

    Major Issues w/RT-AC86U

In your experiences as an ASUS paramedic, how many routers have experienced an NDE like mine and lived to route about it?

    Major Issues w/RT-AC86U

Well, originally I just flashed the latest Merlin over the stock Asus firmware. Then I ran into all of these issues. Then what I did was to re-flash the latest stock ASUS, did a factory reset, flashed the latest Merlin, factory reset, then add my settings. I have been reading more since my post...

    Major Issues w/RT-AC86U

I can report that I had decided to 'upgrade' from my 68U running Merlin (rock solid BTW) to an AC-86U running the same firmware version. All was well for two days, then the dreaded wireless drop outs which then progressed to many, many reboots. After a week of digging into this issue (...
