    I really don't understand a lot of the settings on my dir-655 router, and even those I do understand I'm not sure what they affect... I'm asking what would be a good configuration for optimal bit torrent traffic, maybe to reduce the lag from games or browsing while seeding or downloading...

    Don't take my word for it, because I'm still a networking n00bie, but I'm pretty sure QoS actually gives MORE bandwidth to the games. Although it may be entirely possible to swap that by customizing it yourself, like I think you mentioned.
