    Nope that is still the "firmware hack" and it works as well. The only reason for doing this update is for making the CFE able to see 64kB nvram variables at boot. (if you want to overclock, or do something else very advanced.)

    I tried extracting from binary cfe, but it doesn't really add up, when opening the original cfe in a hex-editor the first text-line after "FLSH" is: boardtype=0xF5B2 But when dumping these lines comes in first: sdram_init=0x0000 sdram_config=0x0000 sdram_refresh=0x0000...

    I have used shibbys 102 for a while without any issues (Dont forget to clear nvram after flash) Right now I'm on DD-WRT though...

    It is not just about the name-resolving. A WINS server speeds up the network browsing a whole lot in workgroups.

    I suppose the WINS is more Imortant than Master Browser, at least to me (When you only have a workgroup it quickens the network browsing + the VPN-clients can connect by name instead of just IP-number) Anyhow, I thank you alot!!

    Do you have the router connected to any other router/modem? Disconnect the router from everything, do a hard reset (holding wps-button while powering up) Set your computer to static adress 192.168.1.x, then connect it to the router on one of the LAN ports. Open your browser and navigate to...

    Actually I'm running tomato on my N66U and only as an accesspoint (+WINS and Master browser). Before I bought this router I had a machine with pfsense, and after having tried different firmwares on the router I started my pfsense-machine again. To many bugs/missing features at that moment...

    Not really sure what that means, but I would say that it is not true... My LAN is on 192.168.8.xxx and all of my VPN-clients get IP in the range of 192.168.6.xxx (different blocks...?) and I can without problem acess my server via computer name, "\\Server" and so on. Netbios over TCP must...

    Yes a WINS-server would do the trick. And Yes it can be run on the router, Tomato-firmware has implemented it.

    This is actually wrong. switch of the router, press and hold the wps-button while powering on the router, wait for the powerled to start flashing quickly then release the wps-button.

    Yes, this might be, but flashing this cfe does not add anything to that, they still work, with or without it. So still no upside to flashing this. And I really hope Ryzhov and the ones who found this out take no offense by this post because this might come in handy real soon.... And...
