    Asuswrt-Merlin 3.0.0.4.372.31 is out

Because there is a lot of old, obsolete versions in use out there.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 3.0.0.4.372.30_2

Almost every NIC in use over the last probably 5-10 years are able to do this (temporarily) through the driver. I haven't encountered a single NIC that couldn't do this. On Linux it's simply (as root): ifconfig <nic> hw ether <new mac> On Windows there are various utilities.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 3.0.0.4.372.30_2

Hidden SSID and MAC filtering are useless security mechanisms. With hidden SSID, the SSID is hidden in beacons, but still disclosed in probes and association requests and responses, so it is easy for anyone watching the traffic to get it. As for MAC filtering it's easy to just watch all...

Feature Request - IPSec/L2TP VPN Support

I guess it is because IPSEC is often a pain to get working. It did not work well with NAT until the NAT-T standard emerged since it requires IP protocol 50 to be passed between the gateways. Second, it's often hard to set up due to very basic tools and a complicated protocol (getting two...

Possible to use different DNS service on guest wireless?

I think this is possible, but I have not tested it. I guess that dnsmasq will have a seperate line for handing out IP addresses for the guest network, and it will look something like this (just an example): dhcp-range=guest,192.168.0.100,192.168.0.200,255.255.255.0,86400s Note the tag...

    QOS status

It is really difficult to apply QoS on downstream traffic. If you set a lower limit in your router than what you ISP allows, then when packets are coming in too fast, the only thing you can do is to drop packets. Now, your ISP usually has large buffers because fast, stable large transfers are...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 3.0.0.4.246.20 is out

Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately it didn't work. Never had that problem with the previous version. When I get the chance I'll try to downgrade and see if the problem still persists.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 3.0.0.4.246.20 is out

I just installed this on my RT-N66U and have a weird issue with the jffs partition. I enabled jffs and set it to be formatted at the next reboot. After rebooting I copied some files to the jffs partition, but upon next reboot the partition was empty (except for the scripts and configs dirs)...
