    optimal configuration settings

    I have a stronger signal and better range with 5 GHz set on the lowest channel, 36. There are no other 5 GHz networks in the area, so try both extremes before settling with 161.

    What to expect from the N66U?

    Load the new 260 firmware on the replacement. Check that GRO is disabled (LAN, Switch conrol tab). I believe it is by default, but check it to be sure. I've been through quite a few N routers(all with the same client adapters) and never seen the speed and range that this thing is giving me.

    Official ASUS RT-N66U B1 Firmware Version 3.0.0.4.260

    For what it's worth, I started out with 252, now on 260. I haven't had any wireless issues... great performance streaming to 4 tv's, browsing the web, and downloading bt, all simultaneously. No disconnects. This would have crippled my dir-655.
