    Asuswrt-Merlin 3.0.0.4.354.27 Beta 1

Just a quick question. On my 5Ghz AC mode, should I leave the bandwidth on 80MHz only, or would there be a benefit to setting it to 20/40/80?

USB-AC53 First impressions and tests (to come)

Yes, it will be limited by the limitations of 2.0. However, due to the drop of speed as you distance yourself from the router, the USB 2.0 maximum rate may not be factored in.

    Review RT-AC66U vs RT-N66U

    According to Amazon's description: Product Dimensions: 11 inches x 3.5 inches x 14 inches

USB-AC53 First impressions and tests (to come)

I haven't experienced a single disconnect or slowdown since I got it on Wednesday. I'm on Asus 354 FW, with an AC connection on 5GHz

How to block a range of IP addresses? (Youtube speed fix)

I have never heard of this YouTube IP issue before today. I always wondered why when I hit pause that the video didn't continue caching. Would be nice to have an on/off button in the firmware that activates this ip range blocking. Is that even possible do with the custom f/w's?

USB-AC53 First impressions and tests (to come)

I'm sorry, you're right it's MB/s. I'll edit my post. I think I'll start investigating a NAS system and do it the right way. The adapater still is impressive for what it does, and my 5GHz range did increase about 15-20% from my built in N card. My transfer rate is still double what it was before...

USB-AC53 First impressions and tests (to come)

I got it connected. I'm reported a link of 585 Mbps, signal of -39 on a different level of my house than the router, so that's all good. 5.GHz, N only, channel bandwidth set to 80 and control channel at 36. The 5GHz band is wide open in my area As a heads up, the monitor clip is designed for...

N66U vs AC66U test results with 354 firmware and USB-AC53

I have one of these arriving to my house today to connect to my AC66U. I won't be able to play with it until tomorrow. I have no issues currently with my internet speed in any of my locations. The problem I have is with file transfer rates across the network. That's really the only reason I...

    New 802.11ac router (RT-AC67U).

On top of that, there's a lot that can change between now and the release date. Everything we think we know can change and I wouldn't be surprised if it's pushed back. I already have the AC66, but when the next AC67 (or whatever they end up calling it), I'll probably just use the original...

Data transfer speed between two connected HDD's

Is Samba something different than just plugging in the 2 external HDD's and enabling DLNA Media Server? I didn't touch Samba in the configuration and would that increase the file transfer speeds between the two HDD's connected to the 2 USB ports on the AC66? I'm not really sure I understand the...

    Asus USB-AC53 Adapter

I went ahead and ordered it. I know I should just wait for for the USB 3.0 adapter, but whatever. I'm not half expecting the results from that video, but I'll let you guys know.

Data transfer speed between two connected HDD's

I'm only transferring at a 2 MB/s when moving files between two connected USB 2.0 external HDD's. I've never used the USB ports on a router before, but should this be as slow as it is? I'm also at a terribly slow transfer rate through wifi on 2.4ghz, typically 3-5 MB/s. I haven't tried...

    ASUS RT-AC66U 3.0.0.4.354 Official Firmware

I hope this fixes my incredibly slow file transfer speeds on 2.4ghz

    Asus USB-AC53 Adapter

So what you're saying is that I wouldn't necessarily get any faster speeds by using this over my current built in network card? Might have to wait until there's a USB 3.0 version.

Can't connect to usb-drive with my WD TV HD Live

You may wish to visit the WDTV forums. I have seen this question many times over there which would lead me to believe it's an issue with the WDTV box more so than your actual router. I can't be certain, but it's worth a shot.

    Asus USB-AC53 Adapter

Asus released a 802.11AC USB adapter, but it's USB 2.0. Is it possible to achieve speeds it's claiming on USB 2.0? I know it's new, but is there any reason to think that it would be better to hold off on this?

    RT-N66U or RT-AC66U?

I just purchased the RTAC version the other day and couldn't be happier. While my clients are a mix of G/N, I plan on buying another one and putting it in bridge mode so they can take advantage of the higher speeds. I also added my old G router to the mix as an AP so I didn't limit my N speeds...

New Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone has 802.11ac

Battery life will be marginally better with ac, but I can't envision it ever being something that people will notice in real world applications. In my case, it may be worse because I'll do twice as much surfing in the same amount of time. Plus, if range is worse because of 5ghz (and why wouldn't...

    Looking for 1080p Streaming Solution

I currently have a really old WRT54G router with two WD TV Streaming Media Player's each with a HDD connected via wifi. Currently I do not have enough bandwidth to stream larger files (1080p) from one box to the other. The Router is currently located between the two locations, no more than 15...
