Help for new RT-N66U, firmware and 2 XBox's...

That's strange. I've been using Merlin's builds for a long while and my NAT has always been "Open."

    RT-N66U firmware 3.0.0.4.374.720 released

... Fault is a little irrelevant here, smart butt. The only one who cares that your router/network is malfunctioning, is you. The fact of the matter is that sometimes certain router firmwares don't work well with certain NIC drivers. I assure you, ASUS doesn't give a damn whether or not the...

    RT-N66U firmware 3.0.0.4.374.720 released

Windows update is just about the worst way to keep drivers up-to-date possible. And just because your driver works with other versions doesn't mean it's not a driver problem. Firmware gets updated, sometimes old drivers don't work when newer ones do, and vice versa.

    RT-N66U firmware 3.0.0.4.374.720 released

Their descriptions aren't very descriptive actually lol. Fortunately I already knew what the ACK suppression one was basically about, but there's actually a typo in the one I had to look up (regarding AMPDU) that could throw folks for a loop.

New FW - ASUS RT-N66U Firmware Version 3.0.0.4.374.720

Fixes the 5GHz issues as in... the ones from the old SDK? Or fixes the 5GHz issues as in... the ones from SDK6? Because Pixie Dust doesn't fix those. I'd check the website, but it doesn't even work for me right now -_- Edit: Nvm, Google caching wins again. Looks like they've switched to SDK6...

...and for those looking for some pixie dust for their RT-N66U...

Rock solid connection for a week now on Pixie Dust. It humors me to no end that the best firmware ASUS has come up with for the N66U happens to be the one that should be buggy that isn't fully coded for the hardware it's operating on. I'm sticking with SDK6 from here on out. It's nice to...

...and for those looking for some pixie dust for their RT-N66U...

I've been on my 5GHz network for 24 hours straight now for the first time since I was using the .2xx drivers. Meaning of course that this is the first time I've been able to use 5GHz without crippling my Xbox 360. So far so good over here! (Again, my NIC is an Atheros chip) Edit: 48 hours in...

...and for those looking for some pixie dust for their RT-N66U...

Just installed Pixie Dust. Laptop connected to my 5GHz network faster than it ever has before (Atheros chip). Will report back on stability in a couple of days.

new firmware on asus site 374.257

For the first time in a long while, I was able to get my Atheros chip to hold a decent connection on 5GHz. Will monitor it for a while, but so far so good.

    New Release for .27X branch

Wireless works fine for most people who know how to setup their network. That is of course if you have a router with fully functional firmware to begin with... something many of us don't really know about here as N66U owners -.- Provided you have a decent connection, the argument for wired...

    New Release for .27X branch

I'm holding out until November myself. If my Xbox One has no issues, I'll keep it. If it even has a FRAGMENT of a problem, I'm done with this thing.

    New Release for .27X branch

What issue? For many of us, the .2xx builds are the only ones that actually work. It's .3xx that is unstable.

New RT-N66U Firmware release from Asus

Nah, none of that for me. I'd just buy the add-on wireless adapter if I wanted to throw that kind of cash at the problem. Not to mention my router is nowhere near a power outlet (already has its own extension to reach its location), so I'd have to buy and run another giant ethernet cable across...

New RT-N66U Firmware release from Asus

Merlin's "have your cake and eat it too" firmware is indeed probably best right now. Unless you have an Xbox 360 on your wireless network, in which case, don't bother.

New RT-N66U Firmware release from Asus

If nothing is broken, I'd say don't bother. If ya just want to upgrade, stick with .27x builds or something is likely going to end up broken =/

    ASUS RT-N66U Firmware Version 3.0.0.4.372.1393

You can add Atheros to that list of problem devices. My Killer N1202 still hates the new drivers as well >_<

    ASUS RT-N66U Firmware Version 3.0.0.4.372.1393

Soooo... who else just wants to lobby for ASUS to just pay Merlin just handle the firmwares henceforth? :D

New FW: ASUS RT-N66U Firmware Version 3.0.0.4.372 (2013.07.16 update)

No. The internal wireless NIC does not support the 5GHz frequency, only 2.4GHz. I have the Xbox 360 S.

New FW: ASUS RT-N66U Firmware Version 3.0.0.4.372 (2013.07.16 update)

Ahhh. Yeah that's why you're not seeing any issues. The adapter works fine. It's the internal wireless NIC that has the problem.
