Netgear A6210 drivers vs Mediatek drivers

Well, in this case, there's one issue. Netgear drivers are capped to USB 2.0 when used with an Asmedia USB 3.0 host (known issue) while the Mediatek ones are not, although I am not sure if this is limiting the performance in my case (not reaching USB 2.0 cap). Aside from that, they have been...

Netgear A6210 drivers vs Mediatek drivers

Hi: Quick question. I always wondered if it is better to use the manufacturer drivers or the chip maker drivers (in this case, Netgear vs Mediatek). I understand they are probably both the same. In this case, Netgear uses the 5.1.22 version and Mediatek offers the 5.1.25 one so, should I stick...

    2.4GHz interferences with 5GHz adapter

I seem to have traced the problem to the usb stand this adapter is using. The same adapter with the Netgear stand doesn't have any interference whatsover.

    2.4GHz interferences with 5GHz adapter

2.4GHz and 5GHz don't have the same SSID. The speeds I'm getting correspond with Wireless AC over the 5GHz band so it shouldn't be connected with 2.4.

    2.4GHz interferences with 5GHz adapter

I'm renting this place and the microwave came with it. It works pretty well but it seems to be leaking and killing the WiFi. The thing is, it seems to affect this particular device and no the other one. From what I understand, microwaves work in the 2.4GHz spectrum so a 5GHz adapter shoul be...

    2.4GHz interferences with 5GHz adapter

Hi! I'm getting what seems to be 2.4GHz interferences using my USB AC56 Dual Band adapter connected to a 5GHz network. When I turn on my old microwave, my client connected to the 5GHz network with this adapter loses a lot packets and my ping skyrockets. I don't get this issue with another dual...

Is this it? (Lower than expected wireless throughput)

And if I switch to AP mode, would I have to switch the wired connections currently connected to my AC66U to the ISP router or would it work perfectly as they are (connected to the AC66U I mean) without a hit on performance? I currently have 2 consoles and an rPi connected via LAN to the AC66U...

Is this it? (Lower than expected wireless throughput)

Guess I'll stick with router mode, switch to Merlin FW and see if I can play around with the usb controller drivers for now. Thank you all for your replies.

Is this it? (Lower than expected wireless throughput)

Thanks for the replies A.D.: I really appreciate them. The thing I find is that wireless adapter drivers for Windows 10 seem to be pretty rough. Latest Netgear A6210 drivers have this in the changelog: "Always set U2 mode in ETRON & ASMedia USB 3.0 Host control". I guess it means it is stuck at...

Is this it? (Lower than expected wireless throughput)

@bbsc: 1 last question if you don't mind. Are you using the AC66U merely as an AP or as a router? I'm trying to figure out if I would notice a performance increase if I disable the routing capabilities and just use it as an access point. I was planning on switching to Merlin over the weekend...

Is this it? (Lower than expected wireless throughput)

Thanks for the responses. @A.D.: Thank you very mucho for this response. I linked that page merely as an example of benchmarks I came accross while researching if this was normal. I did the tests with "iperf -s" on the wired client and "iperf -c 192.168.x.xxx" on the wireless client and vice...

Is this it? (Lower than expected wireless throughput)

Hi: I have an Asus AC66U router since a couple of years and I've been happy with it. Recently I've started using it for Steam In-Home Streaming between an HTPC connected to the Gigabit port and a PC using a Netgear A6210 Adapter. Router and PC are ~9m apart on different rooms. It seems that the...

USB-AC56 and trouble with Blizzard games

Hi everyone: I've always got problems with this adapter under Windows 10 but I managed to "fix" them by installing the old Windows 8.1 driver. 3 or 4 days ago, a big Windows 10 update hit and it updated the driver. I just downgraded it again and everything seemed to work fine. The thing is, I'm...

    Win10 - ASUS USB-56AC adapter

Hi, I'm having some issues where I have to manually reconnect to my wireless network anytime Windows starts up as it automatically connects with "Limited connectivity" and no matter how much I wait, it never seems to fully connect. If I just disconnect and connect again, it instantaneously...

    No internet access

Hi. I just bought a brand new Asus AC66U and I'm trying to set it up to work with my cable modem-router but no luck. When my cable modem-router (don't know a better term to call it) is in router mode, when connected to the AC66U everything works, but the Asus router gets a local IP address...
