    shields up or other port scanners

    I have been trying to open up ports on a Netgear FVS336Gv2 Router for hours for a micros system. I believe I have the settings correct by every time I try to check with a port scanning utility it says they are closed. Is it possible the device I am trying to port forward just does not respond...
