    SpeedTest Typical Results?

Just curious, what type of real-world speeds are people getting when using Speedtest.net. I have Gibabit Internet, Netgear Rax70 and a standard laptop(Dell XPS-7390) about 10 feet away? When speedtest.net is run, I’m getting around 450MB download speeds. Is this normal?

I’m wondering if it’s time to upgrade my Netgear R7800 router as I’ve had it for some time. I’m considering the Netgear RAX80. In my house I can have 4 computers (running FaceTime, Zoom, or something similar.), 4 TV’s streaming, 2 Xbox’s gaming, and a few iPads being browsing. Will upgrading...

    Upgrade R7800 or not

Thanks Everyone. - My ISP speed is 1Gbit. I want to stay with stock firmware with whatever device I end up with. Based on the responses, I‘m guessing I won’t see any noticeable improvement buying a new router and am going to stay its the R7800. Again - Thanks!

    Upgrade R7800 or not

Hi All, I’m trying to decide whether to upgrade my Netgear R7800 router and am considering the RAX20. I don’t want to spend alot and like the price point of the RAX20. Would the RAX20 show noticeable performance improvement or would I have to move to the RAX45? Our family has 5 laptops, 6...

1 or multiple routers for best wireless performance

Would better wireless performance be achieved by having two routers side by side, with one setup as an WAP and then split the wireless clients between them or by having all clients connect to a single router? In my household I have up to 10 clients streaming audio/video (Zoom, Netflix, Hulu...

    Router Life

How long do routers typically last before they have to be replaced? I have an Netgear R7800 that is probably 4-5 years old and I have been having intermittent drops/hangs lately. I haven’t tested anything yet but my gut tells me it’s the router.

Speed Test (Verizon FIOS 1Gbps vs Comcast 600Mbps)

I just had Verizon FIOS with 1Gbps service installed and planned to cancel my Comcast 600Mbps service. Before going ahead with cancelling, I decided to run some speed tests to compare actual numbers using speedtest.net. So far, Comcast's 600Mbps service is putting up better numbers than...

    What Download Speed???????

Right now I have 600Mbps download speed and its working fine but I am wondering if 600Mbps is overkill or if 1Gbps would provide a better experience. I don’t have a good understanding of where the bottleneck is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Verizon G3100 vs. Netgear R7800

Thanks L&LD and Sea Wolfe for replying. Once Verizon installs my service, I will test my throughput and wireless range with the Netgear and Verizon routers, both as stand alone routers and with the Netgear daisy-chained off the Verizon router and report back performance. Just learned that...

Hi Everyone, I have a Netgear R7800 router and I'm changing my service over to Verizon with Gigabit internet service. Verizon includes their G3100 router as part of the package. I can't find any performance reviews of the G3100. Does anyone have experience with the G3100 or opinions on...

    SVG2482AC - Guest Network

Hi All, I'm hoping someone might have a suggestion here. I have a SVG2482AC router and a Comcast support representative was able to create a guest network on my router without me doing anything. A week after they did this, I had a DHCP issue that required resetting the router to factory...

    Print Server Recommendations

Thanks Hi PeterO, It's taken me a while to get back to this, but thanks for the detailed response. I've seen the Lantronix device but ruled it out because I would have to buy one for iOS and another device for Android. The device itself is also more than I am willing to spend. I am...

    NAS for Small Business

Qnap vs Synology I will share that I purchased a Synology ds209 and now wish I purchased a QNAP. The QNAP NAS's have tracking and logging of user activities such as who created, modified, and deleted files. This is missing from my Synology. Best of luck with whatever you decide.

    N66U - Routing Rules

Thanks for responding sm00thpapa and RMerlin. I have it setup as sm00thpapa suggests but I want to prevent Netgear users from seeing the Asus network as RMerlin mentions. Can I accomplish it through Asus routing rules or is this impossible without daisy-chaining the Netgear first? I...

I'm trying to daisy-chain two routers, the Asus N66U as my primary router that is connected to the WAN and a Netgear WNR2000 that is connected to one of the LAN ports of the N66U. I would like to have it so that each router operates independent networks, yet both still have access to the...
