    Rt-ac68u

    It doesn't seem there is a "3 stream / 600Mbps Wireless-N" combination according to this. The 1900Mbps spec could be marketing smoke&mirrors for this theoretical & concurrent throughput combination: 5Ghz Wireless-AC (1300Mbps / 3 stream) + 5Ghz Wireless-N (300Mbps / 2 stream) + 2.4Ghz...

    RT-AC66R + Android 4.1.2 = 2 connection issues => Help?

For whatever it's worth, I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 (Android 4.1.2) working well over 2.4ghz wifi with my RT-AC66U and the .270 Merlin firmware. Fast, solid connections with that combination.

Only getting 217 Mbps link rate on 2.4Ghz

Sounds like a weak signal due to distance or perhaps interference with other WiFi networks. Download the free inSSIDer app for your PC (or if you have an Android phone/tablet, download the free 'WiFi Analyzer' app) and check out what networks are around you and if you are overlapping. You...

HTC One has AC, doesn't work with RT-AC66U

Hopefully this is a sign that any other compatibility issues will be fixable in firmware.

New Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone has 802.11ac

The rumours are this years new Apple Macs will have 802.11ac. If those pan out, chances are very, very good the next iPhone and iPad will also have it. And one update to my original post in this thread - apparently the new HTC One smartphone that is already out has 802.11ac, so it beat the...

266 Firmware no longer on the download page at Asus

For what it's worth, I've had the Merlin 3.0.0.4.270.4 firmware running for a few weeks now on my RT-AC66U and I have been quite happy. Stability, great signal strength and great speeds over both 2.4ghz 802.11n and 5ghz 802.11ac to my PCE-AC66U adapter.

New Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone has 802.11ac

While not directly an RT-AC66U point, it's nice to see the new Samsung Galaxy S4 has 802.11ac I believe this is the first mobile smartphone with it. Should make Plex syncs over my RT-AC66U much quicker!

2x Speed "Plateau Shift" with RT-AC66U

Wow! It seems I found the magic ingredient based on the last poster's comment. After finding this page, I made a tweak and now I am consistently getting 40MB/s speed when downloading from my Synology NAS via web browser over Wireless-AC. Previously I was hitting a limit of around 21 MB/s. My...

2x Speed "Plateau Shift" with RT-AC66U

Interesting post. Thanks, So the obvious question is: is there a tweak for Windows 7 to give equal performance as WinXP?

My AC66U + PCE-AC66 Config for best perf. so far

Unfortunately no luck for me. I have the same settings and made the suggested changes in Windows but I'm lucky to get more than 11 MB/s during Samba transfers from my Synology NAS. I note the OP has the .266 firmware and Windows8 - perhaps one/both of those are the magic ingredients to...

Help - PCE-AC66 802.11ac To Set To AC Bandwidth

I have the same equipment. What I've done is use unique SSID names, one for the 2.4ghz network and one for the 5ghz network. That way I know for sure which I am connected to as Wireless AC will only work on the 5ghz network.

    RT-AC66U - Disappointing so far...

Ditto. A 300 baud modem then 1200 baud on my Commodore 64. Then 2400 baud, and finally a 14.4k Courier HST with my Amiga which I ran a BBS on. Now "gigabit" wireless...

Browser DLs 2x fast as SMB file copies of same file

My write speeds from my PC to my Synology NAS over Wireless AC are very slow - about 10 to 12 MB/s And that's using the Firefox browser to do the upload, not Samba.

What sort of mods did you make to smb.conf ?

2x Speed "Plateau Shift" with RT-AC66U

When I still had that beta firmware installed (I've since moved over to Merlin .270.24) there was a significant degradation of my 2.4ghz connection. Normally my Nexus 7 tablet reports the maximum 65Mbps connection rate. But with that firmware, it was down to 5Mbps consistently. My first clue...

Browser DLs 2x fast as SMB file copies of same file

Sounds like you've done better than me for speed with Samba transfers as mine are averaging 13 MB/s as reported by Windows; I haven't tried an FTP transfer yet from my NAS. My PCE-AC66 adapter is setup on channel 149 with a signal strength of -43 dbm and a date rate between 877 and 1300Mbps...

2x Speed "Plateau Shift" with RT-AC66U

Yes, my Synology NAS has a web-based interface called "DSM". Here's a live-demo on the Synology website if you are interested in seeing what it looks like.

2x Speed "Plateau Shift" with RT-AC66U

So as reported by the AC66U built-in traffic monitor, here's what happened when I started 5 simultaneous downloads from my Synology NAS with the Firefox web browser: This seems to indicate that, if nothing else, my wireless connection is good as I saw a burst up to 63 MB/s ! I believe...

2x Speed "Plateau Shift" with RT-AC66U

I've loaded that Beta firmware into my AC66U. Throughput is still not going beyond ~22MB/s like it did in my graph posted above, despite all conditions/settings remaining the exact same. My PCE-AC66 adapter is reporting a link rate of 1053 Mbps and the inSSIDer app is reporting no other...

    RT-AC66U - Disappointing so far...

From what I have read, the Netgear R6300 would have been my second choice to the AC66U. RE: your 2.4ghz issues - what type of network adapter are you using? Do you have the option to test another or test with another device entirely? Also, can you post a screenshot from the inSSIDer app of...
