    86U, 7800, or RT2600AC

Similar set up to yours. I've been running an rtac66u for a few years. Looking to upgrade and I've been so impressed with my Synology NAS I'm definitely going go with the Synology RT2600AC as my next router.

    Synology ds1817+ or Asustor as6208t?

Looking to add a NAS to my network. Noob to NAS. First priority is for backup. Lots of large image files. I also would like for folks to be able to integrate with my website so that folks can send me large files straight to my NAS instead of the remote server my site is on or via Dropbox, Box...

    ASUS RT-AC66U 3.0.0.4.380.4180 Firmware

UPDATE: The only issue I've noticed with this firmware is, now I get the flashing exclamation point in the router admin page. Click on the exclamation and it says, "The WAN IP is not the external IP. External IP-based services will not work." But everything appears to be working like it should...

    ASUS RT-AC66U 3.0.0.4.380.4180 Firmware

Firefox. Just logged in and checked it again. Client List is there. Click on it...there's the complete list, access time, etc. I see they fixed some security issues. I didn't have any problems with the previous firmware (380.4005), until the last couple of weeks I would occasionally have...

ASUS RT-AC66U 3.0.0.4_378_7143 Official Beta Firmware

I am running this on my RT-AC66U with no problems. On my previous firmware (forget the number, but the latest non-beta) I would get a slight flicker every few minutes when watching vids stored on router-attached USB HD. Not bad...just a minor annoyance. Using 378_7143 so far that flicker is...

    RT-AC66U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.376.3754

Upgraded to this about 12 hours ago. No problems. The issue of downloads to your RT-AC66U attached drive not being visible without doing a rescan of the disk is FIXED. Now they show right up! It was a minor annoyance, but nice to have it addressed. THANK YOU, Asus!

    RT-AC66U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.376.3626

Can you post a direct link to the firmware? 3626 is not showing for the RT-AC66U on the official Asus support page. The most recent firmware showing there is 3602. Although I'm probably going to stick with 2524 as it has worked perfect for me. The only upgrade I see in 3602 that I might be...

    New User Comments: RT-AC66U

Not sure what you mean by "cutting edge." As a rule, if everything is working well I leave firmware updates alone. If I read the release notes and see something addressed that I have noticed, or an improvement that applies to me, I will update. Asus is great about tweaking and improving via...

    New User Comments: RT-AC66U

v.2524 is rock solid for me. And it addressed a minor GUI issue with connecting / disconnecting VPN, so now it works perfectly.

Media Server not rescanning on 3.0.0.4.376_2524 firmware

You do not need to unplug / replug the drive. Just log in to the RT-AC66U, click on the drive on the "Network Map" page, in the right column labeled "External USB disk status" click "Disk Utility" and then click the "Rescan" button.

    ASUS RT-AC66U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.376.1123

No. I've never had any rebooting issues with RT-AC66U with any firmware. I've regularly updated over the last 18 months. Both 1123 and 2524 were/are rock solid stable.

    RT-AC66U or RT-AC68U ?

@asus4me: RT-AC66U rock solid for me as well for 18 months running Asus stock firmware. Use with VPN also. 10-18 clients connected at once wireless and wired. Zero problems.

The ASUS AC66U is expensive garbage

Garbage in, garbage out Have had my RT-AC66U uploading / downloading over 15 torrents all at once using DownloadMaster. Never a problem. Always on stock firmware. With anywhere from 9-12 clients, wired and wireless, connected to the router simultaneously. Rock solid for over a year and a half...

SOHOpelessly Broken contest finds vulnerabilities in ASUS RT-AC66U

The firmware they "hacked" for the RT-AC66U was 5517, a few months old. The latest is 1123 released July 7, 2014. Can't speak to the other routers, but the firmware they stated in the rules for the RT-AC66U required 5517, and so was indeed out-of-date.

Download Master fiasco on ASUS RT-AC68U

That must be the case. I am running 376_1123 on the RT-AC66U and the latest version of DownloadMaster available is 3.1.0.88 I see on the support page for RT-AC66U and RT-AC68U 3.1.0.88 is the latest available. Although it also says for 3.1.0.88, "A torrent downloading task may include multiple...

Download Master fiasco on ASUS RT-AC68U

Can you post a link? I'm using Download Master 3.1.0.88. It and every other iteration have worked flawlessly for me on RT-AC66U, so I'm not inclined to update unless it addresses the issue below: The only thing I cannot do, or have not figured out how to do, with Download Master is to make...
