What's Missing From Your Wi-Fi 6 Router? OFDMA

Great article, very insightful. Thank you for taking the time to shine a light for the misguided consumer.

Buffering when connected via a Switch

I suspect this is due to a link-speed negotiation issue. The streamers have 10/100mb ethernet, however the corresponding link from the AP/Switch -> Network switch is 1000Mb. so: Streamer (10/100) -> Asus RT-AC66U AP Mode (1000mb) -> HP Switch (shows 1000mb full duplex) If I remove...

Buffering when connected via a Switch

OK So I disabled LAG and factory reset the Network switch, same problem :( Then I tried swapping the network switch for another switch (this time unmanaged) So: Media Streamer -> AP/Switch -> Unmanaged Network Switch -> NAS ............again all hard cabled and it worked without...

Buffering when connected via a Switch

Isn't that irrelevant because it works fine when the AP is not in the chain?

Buffering when connected via a Switch

Not sure I follow? The NAS is connected via a LAG connection to the network switch in room 1 The AP/switch and streamer are in room 2 I have cat6a cabling between room 1 and 2

Buffering when connected via a Switch

Some advice please, my setup is: Media Streamer -> Network Switch -> NAS ...............all hard cabled by CAT6A this works fine, however if I introduce an access point/switch between the streamer and switch: Media Streamer -> AP/Switch -> Network Switch -> NAS ............again all hard...

RT-N66U Maxing out at 140Mpbs (wired) download speed

Have you checked the QOS settings? If you were previously on a lower speed package and entered those values, it may be now limiting your throughputs.

[SOLVED] Terminating cable to keystone and other end to RJ45

I'm trying to run a cat6 from a wall panel keystone on one (X) side and an RJ45 (Y) on the other to connect to an IP camera. All connected correctly via the 568-B Wiring wiring method, however when I test with a LAN cable tester nothing is working?? Into the testing tool I'm connecting the...

    TP-Link PA511 Kit?

I tested around 10 different 500mbps powerline kits and the PA511KIT gave me the best overall results. With that said, the connection rate at the far end of the house still wasn't brilliant (orange light on unit), however that is determined by distance and quality of wiring.

    Ideal router placement?

So I ran a test and placed a router in the attic, results were awful, signal was mid-weak in all rooms, so looks like another AP is needed in the dead spot. Thanks to everyone.

    Ideal router placement?

So the advice I have read seems to suggest as high up as possible and in a central location, given my rooms are separated by walls, would it be therefore logical for me to place my router in the loft in a central location over all the rooms? I live in the UK, so in theory temperatures...

Swapped over 2 APs, now cannot connect to either!

Thanks, I'm native English so understand the differences. It was more a case of me skim reading rather than thoroughly reading. Oh well, lesson learned, at least issues are now resolved.

Swapped over 2 APs, now cannot connect to either!

Probably my fault! I went too far with this statement: 5. .........Also turn off or disable other features on the AP router, I.e. Port Forwarding, Firewall, WISH, WPS and any email logging. Save the settings. Close the browser and change your computer’s IP settings back to the original values...

Swapped over 2 APs, now cannot connect to either!

DHCP was configured correctly, the issue was that WMM had to be enabled in the advanced wireless settings of Each AP in order to use 802.11n only mode. I had disabled WMM in the APs recently following somebody who posted a link to the d-link forum with this recommendation from a moderator...

Swapped over 2 APs, now cannot connect to either!

I have 2 APs (converted D-Link Dir-655 routers) connected to my main router via seperate homeplug. One of them has been working poorly for the past few days, so I swapped them over and changed their respective IP addresses around. Following this I cannot connect to either wirelessly?! I can...
