    Ideal router placement?

    5GHz not stable?

    I'm having issues connecting my RT-N66U to my laptop over 5GHz. The laptop is located about 1 metre from the router. It works fine initially, but intermittently disconnects and then won't reconnect. Both the router and and laptop are set to auto 20/40... Any ideas?

    Do router limitations apply if used as an AP?

    For example: I know the Asus rt-n56u had/has limitations with VPN pass through, would these still apply if it were being used as an AP? Connected users would be using the AP to connect to a router which does allow VPN pass through?

    Adding a wireless access point - why assign IP outside DHCP range?

    Sorry if this is a silly question.. As per the title, when adding a wireless access point, why is the recommendation to assign it an IP address outside of the DHCP range. Why not just assign an IP within the DHCP range and reserve it for the access point within the router settings? Thanks
