Transfer files to another device (raspi) in the same network

Ah, it's the router pushing files to the Pi. Okay, I'll try and see how to operate them. :)

Transfer files to another device (raspi) in the same network

Hello! I need to automatically transfer files from my RT-AC86U to a Rasperry Pi in the same network. amtm is installed and entware, too. The raspi is connected to the router by an ethernet cable and IP adresses are known, of course. The raspi has a SSD connected which is mounted. I'm wondering...

    halt the router through cronjob

Yup :) Works perfect for me now.

    halt the router through cronjob

Alright, was able to conduct some testing ... and kill -QUIT 1 does the job! Awesome! 🥳 This really takes some hassle from me each night when I'm here. Thank you very much for that hint! 👍 "exec halt" by the way didn't have any effect as a cronjob (only when running it manully at the command...

    halt the router through cronjob

Thank you a lot. 👍I'll give both a try and let you know. Might take a day or two.

vnStat how to restore vnstat database

That's a mere tech description only. Not helpful for the enduser. 🤷‍♂️ There's no real hint anywhere as far as I know. Neither vnstat's config menu nor the board's webpage for vnstat nor the router's vnstat page tell something about the database and how to make sure to back it up in the right...

vnStat how to restore vnstat database

Omg o_O I just found out: The vnstat db is located in /opt/var/lib/vnstat/? Really? 💩 Why?? It seems to be out of scope of any backup routines. How can history data from dn-vnstat.d/csv/dn-vnstatdata.csv be restored into vnstat's SQL-db in /opt/var/lib/vnstat/?

    amtm amtm 4.5 - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu, April 21, 2024

And at the end of the day reboot scheduler could use 'exec halt' as command and then both routes could work. And reboot scheduler is not the culprit here.

    amtm amtm 4.5 - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu, April 21, 2024

No it isn't. I just saw the reboot scheduler today for the first time after I browsed through the amtm program list. And the reason I ask is because I simply find amtm great and things coming out of one hand. :) That's cool! I don't think adding an option to the reboot scheduler would fix a...

vnStat how to restore vnstat database

Hi! I have a recent backup of the jffs partition (tar archive). I need to restore the vnstat database from it (no configuration or settings, only the database). Which files and folders do I have to extract from the tar file to the dn-vnstat.d folder? Is it simply the complete folder "csv"...

    amtm amtm 4.5 - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu, April 21, 2024

Hello! First of all thank you very much for your reply. Very much appreciated! :) I am aware of the discussions around halt or not halt. 👍 But in my case halting is the only reasonable opportunity since power simply gets cut off here at a certain point at night. Well, it's the way it is ...

    halt the router through cronjob

Hhm, ah I see. Thank you. I assumed it was something like a service that needs to be restarted/reloaded to take effect. Never mind.

    halt the router through cronjob

Erm ... one more question: how can I reload changed cru settings without rebooting the whole router?

    halt the router through cronjob

Hi! I haven't encountered problems here with 'halt' yet - at least when I run it manually :p But I'm sure I don't use as advanced scripts or services as you probably do. I use 'halt' mostly hoping to unmount drives correctly - yes, I have got an external ssd attached. As said, no problems with...

vnStat usb vs. jffs storage location

Thank you very much. That made it a lot clearer. :)

vnStat usb vs. jffs storage location

Hi! I'm wondering what "usb" means if set it as storage location? Where is the exact location? I've got an external SSD drive attached to my router and entware is installed on it. Will that be automatically used? And in which directory will the database reside? I'm asking because I've lost my...

    amtm amtm 4.5 - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu, April 21, 2024

Hi @thelonelycoder, um I hope I'm right here. Just wanted to suggest a new option for your Reboot scheduler: Let the user choose if he wants to halt the router instead of doing a reboot. :) That's what I would love to have as an option. :)

    halt the router through cronjob

Hi! If I type "halt" in a shell, it works as expected and the router halts itself (I know, it's not totally powered off). But if I add "halt" to a cronjob, it doesn't halt the router but performs an unwanted reboot at the given time: cru a Shutdown "30 2 * * * halt" Is there something wrong...

amtm Disk Check cannot fix the errors on USB flash

Hi! My USB drive is going to die soon. The check tool reports errors (EXT2) but I cannot repair them because the drive is automatically mounted - Entware and scripts are installed on it. I am going to replace it by a SSD. But how can I unmount the drive and repair it in the meantime without...

reboot instead of halt when using putty

Hi! When opening a command line / bash with WinSCP and typing in "halt" everything works like a charm: the router stops everything within 10-20 seconds and every LED is finally turned off and the router ready for poweroff. But when I try to achieve the same using Putty, the router always only...
