Yes, just set your static IPs outside the range you select for the DHCP server.

Samung EVO SSDs showing a bad behavior

    Uh oh. Doesn't sound good.

Samung EVO SSDs showing a bad behavior

As far as this being a temporary fix, I was referring to the "diskfresh" fix (or whatever app is used to refresh the bits), not Samsung's future firmware fix. I should mention that I know nothing about the issues with this particular drive. But if it is a problem with leaking insulation...

Samung EVO SSDs showing a bad behavior

And if it is a problem with leaking insulation, this fix will be temporary.

Samung EVO SSDs showing a bad behavior

Insulation leakage? Same reason something like SpinRite or MHDD would help.

Asus Guest Networks still see and can talk to everything?(RT-N10P, RT-N66U, RT-AC68U)

Are you running Asus' latest firmware? Or Merlin's or one of the forks? There was a thread here about a month or so ago about that issue...

    Shellshock BASH bug and RT-N66U

Bash Vulnerability Discovered A vulnerability in bash has recently been discovered (also affects embedded systems): https://securityblog.redhat.com/2014/09/24/bash-specially-crafted-environment-variables-code-injection-attack/ https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1141597...

How to setup 3 hours limit usage on guest network

I'd guess that there would be a way to do this with scripting. But you'd have to consider all the extra crap one gets when accessing various webpages. It would be hard to figure what the numerical limit should be. Blocking ads and such would help. Trying to correlate a particular data limit...

    NAS backup enclosure

Yeah, I know. Kinda why I mentioned this as well: Try as we might, we'll never be able to violate the laws of economics.

Asus Guest Networks still see and can talk to everything?(RT-N10P, RT-N66U, RT-AC68U)

Good point! I can imagine when first using the UI to set things up someone might be thinking "internet rather than intranet when deciding what to select for that option.

    NAS backup enclosure

Yeah, I use a 2.5/3.5" dual bay dock with an eSATA interface to help ensure full communication with any of the bare drives I run across that I want or need to mess with. Here's a good enclosure with an eSATA interface for a 2.5" drive (makes it a little more "portable" if you need that)...

Connection reset when trying to access admin interface

Maybe not a lot of response, but I certainly appreciated it. What does this mean? Are you talking about saving/restoring something that really shouldn't be restored?

    NAS backup enclosure

Yeah, the exception rather than the rule. I've got two 4 or 5 year old WD MyBooks and two 10 year old Iomegas that allow access to SMART attributes. I'm not sure what kind of interface is in the older Iomegas, but I'd be willing to bet that the WDs have drives where the interface is built into...

    NAS backup enclosure

I think it may be the proprietary SATA/USB3 interfaces used on some devices that allows access to SMART data, and possibly control of spin-down behavior. I avoid these if the SATA/USB3 interface is integrated into the drive's logic board (preventing a simple replacement of a failing/failed drive).

    USB N adapters?

So you're using it in that older machine that you've got with Win 8.1 pro installed? And the 7 driver apparently installed without problem? Have you checked out the device's settings via Win 8.1 Device Manager?

    USB N adapters?

Thanks for the follow up. Can't be disappointed with those results, can you? Reports on range would be appreciated whenever you get the chance...

knowngni, have you gotten these guest networks working as you'd expect them to? What firmware versions are you running on them?

    Permanently attached external HDD recommendation

There are only three manufacturers left: WD, Seagate and Toshiba. As previously mentioned, Samsung was taken over by Seagate. Seagate acquired LaCie as well. I would guess the different brands within each owning company continue to have different manufacturing standards. Never experienced...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Good way to phrase it. Seems as though a few posters here have a little trouble grasping this concept (although I think the user you were replying to already gets it).

How to add more 5ghz channels

I think cofetym mentioned the possible use of powerline so that you could avoid another cable run.
