WAN ICMP from specific IP addresses?

    Thanks Colin, this worked nicely.

    Bump....any suggestions?

WAN ICMP from specific IP addresses?

I know there's a blanket option to enable ICMP responses on the WAN but is there an easy way to allow WAN ICMP responses from specific IP addresses rather than responding to all incoming pings? If not, is iptables the next option?

Wifi download rates 30-50% of wired

I was relying on WiFi Analyzer on Android to tune my network. Decided to try inSSIDer and discovered my neighbor's router is oscillating between channel 6 & 11, so the default of 6, while appearing free, really wasn't. I moved to channel 7 on 2.4Ghz and things dramatically improved (I may have...

Wifi download rates 30-50% of wired

Recently upgraded by internet from 3 down/.256 up to 45 down /6 up (I get 50/5.5 with wired tests on multiple PCs). Previously, had no issues with my N66U getting max up/down over wifi with the slower connection. However, with the faster connection, I'm getting between 17-27 down and 5.5 up...

Expecting ping times to optimally configured router?

Expected ping times to optimally configured router? I have two different RT-N66U's running Merlin 3.0.0.4.374.32 and am trying to figure out the expected range of wireless ping times to the router. These are the ping times I'm seeing for my two wireless devices: iPad running iOS 7.1...

    WOL and ARP w/Merlin

Roughly about once a week, WOL fails to work for me (Wifi WOL packets or directly from the Merlin admin page). I noticed that if I power up the machine to the Windows login, then power it down in the fail WOL state, I can subsequently send the WOL packet to the machine and it wakes up. When in...

    WOL on RT-N66U

Bump. Does this sound like the ARP expiration issue described earlier in this thread? If so, is there a way to prevent the entry from being periodically flushed w/the Merlin firmware?

    WOL on RT-N66U

Not quite solved. About once a week, WOL fails to work. I noticed that if I power up the machine to the Windows login, then power it down in the fail state. I can then send the WOL packet and the machine wakes up. Would this indicate an ARP issue?

    WOL on RT-N66U

Problem solved. Somehow, both my Android and iPad clients had disabled the broadcast packet option. Re-enabled and its working again.

    WOL on RT-N66U

Bump...any ideas why WOL works from the ASUS while WiFi WOL packets don't (they do work for other PCs on the network)?

    WOL on RT-N66U

Did some more experimentation. Tried sending the WOL packet directly from the ASUS N66U to the PC. It woke up immediately. The same packet sent over WiFi (Android and iPad) won't wake up the PC. I can send WOL packets over WiFi to other PCs on the network and they wake up fine. Any...

    Setting up QOS for WebRTC

    Bump...any ideas on this one?

    Setting up QOS for WebRTC

Use of WebRTC by apps is increasing so I'd like to setup QOS for it in Merlin on my N66U. Problem is, I don't think it has a predefined port (or port range). Anyone have QOS configured for WebRTC on their ASUS device? If not, any ideas on how it could be setup?

    WOL on RT-N66U

ok, then the binary won't help. Still scratching my head as to why WOL packets were reliable w/the DIR-655 but unpredictable with the N66U.

    WOL on RT-N66U

Let me just make sure I've explained myself properly before trying the new binary. I'm sending the WOL packets from my iPad and Nexus 4 (both fail when the problem happens). Will the binary help in forwarding these packets or is it just for generating WOL packets from the router directly?

    WOL on RT-N66U

Sure, I'd be happy to try out a different wol binary.

    WOL on RT-N66U

I'm running Win7 64-bit and I recently replaced a DLink DIR-655 with an N66U. My use case was complete power down (S5). Prior to the switch, WOL worked every time with the DIR-655. Since switching to the N66U (running the Merlin firmware) its random. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't...

Possible to have different wireless mode settings for guest network?

I'd like to configure my internal wireless networks to only be 802.11n, but allow the guest networks to be either n or g. Unfortunately, I don't see an option to do this in the GUI. Is there an cli command I can use to control the wireless mode of the guest network without affecting the...

iPad 3 speed problems, good news!

Have you tried doing a throughput test with Ixia's QCheck and their Endpoint software on the iPad? This will rule out the WAN/ISP and give you the theoretical maximum you can obtain through the N66U. Right now, I'm maxing out at 40mpbs with QCheck on my iPad3. Anyone getting higher numbers...
