    OpenVPN not working with GuestNetworks?

Did you try using the VPN Director to have your guest network IPs go through the desired VPN connection instead of the WAN? If it works, there is no need for using any addon. I have nothing against YazFi, but I like my router to run lean & mean..!

    DNS-overTLS and vpnserver?

@octopus It seems to me that, what you may want to do is configure your VPN server's IP as the DNS for your VPN Clients (instead of the DOT IP), and make sure the VPN server (RT-AX86U) is where the DoT connection is active. That will surely allows the VPN clients to have access to the LAN where...

Little house keeping - Status Frame

Noticed the "StatusFrame" is given different heights depending where the call comes from: From main menu, have to scroll frame down to see Lan IP, PIN Code and MAC Addresses: <div class="NM_radius_bottom_container"> <iframe id="statusframe" class="NM_radius_bottom" style="margin-left: 0px...

    2021 State of the router

Happy New Year @RMerlin, grateful for your invaluable efforts and tenacity, it's hard to understand the difficulties you must have faced in keeping this project alive. Hoping 2022 will bring all kinds of goodies to us all.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.2_6 is now available

Lost connection from some of the smart home devices after a power outage a couple of days ago in North Texas. All reconnected automatically after updating mesh clients & main router to 386.2_6 then rebooting. All done while remotely connected from a 14 hour time zone difference; now that is...

VPN policy routing management: per client versus centralized?

I do support option 'A'. I can see the benefit of having a visual of routing rules in one place: what IPs are going to what VPN client #, its VPN Server description, less opportunity for conflicting configurations, plus potential NVRAM usage optimization. Being using split tunneling since before...

Split tunnelling on RT AC86U 386.2.2 Merlin

One IP address per client yes, that is the most used approach. You could also however, use cidr as long as you are grouping the IP addresses to devices you want tunneled (via DHCP static assignments). Adding one tunnel client with IP address 192.168.1.64/26 to the list will route any device...

Split tunnelling on RT AC86U 386.2.2 Merlin

@Grommit I have 3 VPN tunnels setup on an AC86U and it is very reliable. To use split tunnel with Asuswrt-Merlin and to avoid DNS leaks, you should select the following for each VPN client configuration: - Set option "Accept DNS Configuration" to "Exclusive" - Set option "Force Internet...

    Multiple VPN Clients

@Radleydm Check files in /jffs/openvpn/ after importing an ovpn file. As a workaround, you may be able to manually load up the certificates (using WinCP or similar), content should look similar to this: The files above have survived Asuswrt-Merlin firmware updates and upgrades for a few...

Release [Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 beta is now available

Did you try resetting the wifi connection in the IoT devices? If wifi drivers changed on .19b, connection on clients probably needs/should be reset to the new driver as well.

Try blocking Google dns servers in the router, that's what worked for me after implementation of the whitelist for Amazon. Sent from my IN2017 using Tapatalk

    ISP DNS HIJACKING

I've got around this issue in the past by switching to the smartdns provider alternate DNS port, at least the one I use had it. Instead of pointing DNS to port 53 you have to modify the iptables to the alternate port your provider may (or may not) have. iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i br0 -p...

Asus RT AC86U Merlin firmware Openvpn settings

@bhishan-kayastha Make sure to select UDP (instead of TCP) as the protocol for the tunnel, it is best for streaming.

    Happy birthday to us

Happy Anniversary, and thank you so much for a wonderful firmware. I did join the forum back in Sep-2013, at the time I was deployed in Saudi Arabia and looking for ways to move away from pirated satellite systems into streaming services while bypassing the local censorship and...

    VPN connecting after boot up

Your settings may be incomplete: - Automatic start at boot time YES - Redirect Internet traffic Policy rules (strict) - Block routed clients if tunnel goes down YES You did not provide the "Policy Rules"... It would not matter anyway if what you want is all traffic through the VPN...

Changing Port for upstream DNS Server

@dave14305 this is how it worked in the end: #!/bin/sh CONFIG=$1 source /usr/sbin/helper.sh pc_delete "servers-file" $CONFIG pc_append "server=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx#1512" $CONFIG pc_append "server=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx#1512" $CONFIG logger "Changed to DNS Servers on port 1512" Thank you for pointing me in...
