Introduction To The TR-398 Wi-Fi Performance Test

i'm right there with you. ax/6 has restored some faith that it all isn't just a race to more bandwidth for me, though

[Experimental] WireGuard for HND platform (4.1.x kernels)

In this particular case, they are distributing wg compatible endpoint binaries on most platforms... beating Wireguard to the punch on Windows. Fortunately, the wg alpha is out now and is improving rapidly. basically has gone up 2 minor versions in 2 days. Looks really good already, but still...

    AC68U - 384.11 Beta2 upload faster than download

yeah, ignore that for the most part lol. it may be worth retesting on 10_2 later, though. the rest of that was a selfinflicted feedback loop lol

    DNS over TLS

it's fine, just a semi odd way of doing things. maybe they do that for future advanced configurations like a dedicated iptv ssid or some such.

    AC-RT68U throughput

yeah, i misread this as being wifi with a similar bandwidth limit on downstream as the other thread, and tricked myself into seeing a pattern, which i then attributed to being possibly a blob. since this user was using the previous blob, i editted and recommended the blobs before that; except...

    [Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.11 is available

nice. atm, i'm using a very different setup with DoT and it fails for me, though i've explicitly prevented it from being possible to use anything but cloudflare dns lol

    AC-RT68U throughput

Hi, think you may need to try reverting to 384.10_2 (3-Apr-2019) 384.9 (2-Feb-2019) 384.8_2 (8-Dec-2018) < i believe this puts you into john's LTS fork. https://www.snbforums.com/threads/fork-asuswrt-merlin-374-43-lts-releases-v39e3.18914/

    [Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.11 is available

i think that DoT test only works when you are running it on the client itself. this is normal

    AC68U - 384.11 Beta2 upload faster than download

hey, do you recall the most recent firmware you used that could attain those speeds? you may want to try reverting if following L&LD's method doesn't pan out

DoT is not really protecting us against ISP snooping is it?

There's actually a bit more to this as the web and TLS advances; So, as you know, many sites are behind CDNs; things like Cloudflare, which leverages things like Anycast to load balance, cache and proxy to the actual host semi-transparently and protecting the host. Because of things like this...

Slow VPN speed - QOS issue ?

sorry, this. i should have checked the cpu for that model; you are probably getting all that you can out of it. Sorry @FreshJR - hope you didn't start tearing hair out; managing QoS can be daunting in itself without somebody sending you on a wild goose chase :p

    AC86u IPv6 setup

YMMV, but comcast peering has been screwed up in tallahassee, the capitol of florida, for a while. as an example, a lot of our ipv4 CDN traffic goes to texas via pensacola for a net latency of 30ms. while our ipv6 CDN traffic (correctly) goes to atlanta for a net latency of 15ms.

    Four (simple) IPv6 questions

fun little tidbit, that shortener also exists in ipv4. ie. 10.1 = 10.0.0.1 and 1.1 = 1.0.0.1 so you can check out the cloudflare site for their secondary ipv4 dns at https://1.1
