How many of those who finally have stable AC68s are going to the 87?

Holding off until I see reviews and a firmware people don't have issues with. Plus, with no clients available supporting 4x4 I'd have to buy 2 (at the new, higher price point) to see a better link rate. It just doesn't seem worth it right now.

    Problem with 5GHz connection

Disabling regional limits will allow you to use more power and more channels than would normally be available in your region. The problem is that most of your client devices still follow the restrictions. I think something like this happened to me before. The explanation I came up with is that...

    New Asus RT-87U

I'm tempted to go to Best Buy and see if they have any, but I promised myself that I wouldn't buy new networking gear without waiting for reviews/good fw after the way the AC68U shipped. The way the price is creeping up with every new router release is kind of disconcerting though.

    ASUS RT-AC3200

This quotation from the blog post is kind of confusing; it could be interpreted in multiple ways. It could be interpreted as them saying that if you have N and AC devices connected to their current routers then the AC/multiple stream clients slow down to the same speed as the slowest client...

    ASUS RT-AC3200

The R8000 kind of looks like a dead bug (on its back with its legs sticking up). After the RT-AC68U, I'm wary of any new high end routers coming out with Broadcom chips in them. I've certainly learned my lesson to wait for reviews instead of preordering based on specs and marketing.

Not getting 1300mbps connection between RT-AC68U and PCE-AC68.

I have the same issue, no matter how close I have the router and adapter or what settings I change. In my case, I've pretty much written it off as interference from neighboring networks keeping me from reaching ideal throughput. That said, I've seen some people say that the PCE-AC68 doesn't...

Possible to download driver only for PCE-AC68?

I haven't seen a download without the utility, but you don't have to use the utility once the driver is installed. Just disable it from starting up with your computer and you can use the OS wifi controls.

    2x2 and 2x3 query

My understanding is that OP is asking if two clients, each capable of using two streams, can use different sets of streams such that there is only one stream shared between the two clients. I'm not an expert on how wifi works, so I can't give a definitive answer, but it's possible that...

    How to improve range?

Try another channel, like 11. You don't want to have another network that's more powerful than yours on the same channel drowning out your signal. Also, if you take a look at inSSIDer you'll see a number of "co-channel" and "overlapping" networks. You want to minimize both of these, but...

    RTAC66U + EAN66 slowwwww ... help?

My PS3's lan connection is really slow when I set the link speed manually, but when I set it to "auto" it negotiates a gigabit connection that handles anything I can throw at it. Try changing that setting and testing again.

{Q}Which firmware is safe and stable for the RT-AC68U?

I've had good stability/performance with Merlin's 374.39. Just have to make sure your security settings make sense (e.g. don't enable anonymous ftp access over wan). I've been seeing posts about random reboots with 40 (and the Asus firmwares it's based on), but it's hard to know how common...

    PCE-AC68 Suddenly Slow Download Speeds

I second the suggestion to swap the cards. I have a PCE-AC68 and I always wonder if my performance would be better if I had the AC66. But the only way to test it would be to try both on the same machine, and I have no AC66 to swap in.

    AC68U Mediabridge + USB 3 = Problem

Your tests are the closest I've seen. Some other people, myself included, have posted results at various times but not really in any one thread. People usually post when they have issues, so the performance numbers posted aren't always representative of a working setup. For example, my...

    AC68U Mediabridge + USB 3 = Problem

I think I'd feel the same way in your position. I haven't seen a firmware for the AC68U that I've been completely happy with either, and I've been waiting since early October. What I would probably do in your position, even though it wouldn't be ideal, would be to connect the drives to the...

    AC68U Mediabridge + USB 3 = Problem

Your testing seems pretty thorough to me. If the performance is good from USB3 to a wired computer on the non-bridge side, and the 5ghz performance is good between computers on each side of the bridge, then it points to a problem specific to the media bridge/USB drive combination. If you can...

    Rt-ac68u + pce-ac68

Basically, your network might say "connected at 866 Mbps", but when you actually try to copy files or something over your network what you really get is like 25MB/s (about 200Mbps, a bit less after overhead). The 866 Mbps number (link rate) isn't very useful for knowing the actual...

    Rt-ac68u + pce-ac68

You're getting much better link rates than I do (mine usually says it's at 525 and sometimes goes lower if it's idle). But the link rate isn't really that important... you can't know what real speeds you're getting unless you test your throughput. Can you try copying a file over from another...

    Update or play it cool?

I think 374.158 was the firmware that the early AC68U/R routers shipped with. I know my 68U did, at least. As far as upgrading but still having stability and security, I would go with Merlin's 39 release and turn off the FTP server (actually, I think it's disabled by default). I've been...

Weird iPhone Issue with N66U: never allows 1 of 4 iPhones to connect

It seems to me that it's likely that the problem is with the iPhone's settings, if other ones work. On the iPhone try forgetting the wireless network and then once it's forgotten, go to Settings->General->Reset and choose to reset network settings. Then try connecting to the network again and...

ASUS RT-AC68U not working with Merlin

When you install Merlin's firmware, are you restoring to factory default settings afterward? If not, try it; a lot of people have their problems solved by doing it. I do it after every firmware flash and I've never had any issues. Another thing to try would be deleting the wireless profiles...
