XT8 Boot Loop after firmware upgrade

[Solved] Even though I was directly wired to a laptop and seemingly nothing to do with the other unit, it was still trying to do something with the main router. I turned the main router off, used rescue mode to flash the latest stable Asus firmware and it booted fine. I set it up as a master...

XT8 Boot Loop after firmware upgrade

Thanks, not heard of Mini CFE before but limited searching shows it to be basically rescue mode. However, after rebooting to rescue mode I can get a ping response from 192.168.1.1 but unable to load any web page at that address. Care to tell me anything more Tech9?

XT8 Boot Loop after firmware upgrade

Hi All, My Dual XT8 system had been running fine on GNUton's 386.5._2 firmware but the multitude of logging in to the router and seeing notifications on the browser and the app that a newer version was available I finally bit... And there begins the nightmare! I hit the link to upgrade and...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.5 GNUton's builds are now available

Don't know if this is the right place to ask.... But my XT8 node (gnuton) appears to be bricked. If this is the wrong place please say and I'll post the sordid details in the suggested area

RT-AC87U: Strange routing behaviour: Vlan tagging disables port1 and 5Ghz wifi

Thanks Nigel, But as I said, my issue has the same symptoms as yours but was not triggered by modifying any configuration for port #1 - indeed, as I state, port #1 still works. WiFi 5GHz doesn't and neither does the WiFi page in the router config.

RT-AC87U: Strange routing behaviour: Vlan tagging disables port1 and 5Ghz wifi

I have the same problem with WiFi 5GHz being disabled but I'm not using VLANs. Using 380.64 on the RT-AC87U I followed this Transmission...for Asuswrt/Merlin post to configure Transmission to route via OpenVPN. All appeared to be working but then there was a spontaneous reboot of the router...

Configuring a web server on RT-N66U

I'm trying to get a web server running on my RT-N66U but whatever way I turn I get connection refused when trying to connect to localhost:82 I've updated to the latest alpha firmware for Entware-ng support, uninstalled downloadmaster, installed Entware and lighttpd following the guide at...

    VLAN not working in 378.55

Apologies if this is posted elsewhere but I couldn't find anything about it and found the 378.55 thread closed. Prior to updating my N66U to 378.55 (pretty sure I was on 378.54-2 previously), I had a VLAN set up on port 4 but this no longer seems to be working. My (unchanged) nat-start code...

    How to use dnsmasq.conf.add

Thanks Merlin, That'll teach me to look at something new at 3AM! I did actually mean to post my message to the thread about VLANs - http://www.snbforums.com/threads/use-lan-port-4-as-private-network.14983/page-2 Just got up and had another look, the shebang was already there, another reboot...

    How to use dnsmasq.conf.add

Hmm, can't seem to get it working here. Admittedly first time playing with SSH/VI etc Updated to 378.54.2, SSH'd in and created nat-start as per first post along with dnsmasq.conf.add Rebooted several times, tried nvram set jffs2_scripts=1, confirmed jffs scripts enabled in admin/system...

    What is PPTPD?

Hi, I'm a NOOB here, just joined because of exactly the same issue. I'm also new to the RT-N66U, only had it a couple of months so not familiar with my way around it yet. I'm currently running Asus 3.0.0.4.374_979 and seeing regular attempts from 183.60.48.25 to gain access to my VPN...
