    My RT-N66u just died.

    I flash wirelessly all the time, have for years and never had an issue. With Asus routers firmware updates are preloaded before they get installed.

    Plex is great till you have to buy a PlexPass. Paying $75 to get functionality from a $35 device is absurd in my opinion. If you have a linux server running just install Serviio.

    I use Avia, you can view and cast from network shares, etc. It cost $2.99 to unlock the Chromecast stuff.

    Are you using inSSIDer to check the other networks in your area? Channel 1 might just be too congested. Here is the free version of inSSIDer Home, install it and post a screen shot of the Networks page.

    Do a factory reset then redo your settings manually, dont back up from a file, and see if that helps. Some times when you go from a older firmware to a newer one, weird stuff can happen and a factory reset will correct it.

    Did you try blocking the mobile version of Youtube? Something like m.youtube.com Also this: Two iOS 7 Features Parents Will Love www.opendns.com which your router has built in support for, might be another option.

    I do it with the Android app Avia, you can view and stream from network shares. The app cost $2.99 to unlock the Chromecast features.

    How are you opening the ports, with the firewall? This should be in /jffs/scripts/firewall-start: Then: Reboot and 81 should be open. Then setup Apache to do Virtual Hosts and this should resolve the 2 ips on the same lan with Apache running issue...

    USB AC53 issues

    Are you using the utility or just the driver? I use just the driver and my USB-AC53 works great. There is a folder in the utility folder called driver or something, copy and paste that some place and uninstall the utility and driver then reinstall the adapter with just the driver you copied out...

    Have RT-N66U...any benefit to RT-AC68U upgrade?

    I really want a Linksys WRT1900AC. I just hope they are good and not like all the rest of the current junk Linksys is making.

    FTP server

    If you switch to Entware there are a few different FTP servers but you will have to administer them from the command line or WinSCP/NotePad++, they won't be available in the Web GUI. OpenSSH SFTP server ProFTPD vsftpd
