AC68 in access point mode using its own DNS servers?

Thank you. I guess its time for them to get a new modem and router as there is no way to change the settings on the the Comcast router.

AC68 in access point mode using its own DNS servers?

I have weird setup at my parents house where they have OEM Comcast in one side of the house and an AC68 plugged in to the network and set to 'access point' in a whole other area. This has worked fine for them. I can't do anything with the Comcast router/modem because it really locked down and I...

Lost: 5Ghz radio RT-N66U unable to activate!

What do you mean by restoring an old configuration file? Did you have a back up of your settings and restored that? Or did you flash an older version of Merlin or an older Factory? I have the same missing 5Ghz issue since flashing Tomato so I would like to fix mine also. I do have 2 identical...

Lost: 5Ghz radio RT-N66U unable to activate!

I can help with this output too since mine is jacked up in the same way. Is it from PuTTY or how do I get the output for you? Edit: I used Putty and copied/pasted that command. I got an output from the command but am not sure how to save it to a file to send?

Lost: 5Ghz radio RT-N66U unable to activate!

Issue caused by Tomato I hate to dredge up an older post but I have the same issue. No 5GHz band at all. It all started when i flashed Shibby Tomato on my spare RT-N66U just to see how it was different from Merlin. After the successful flash I noticed that the 5GHz was not there anymore...

Use RT-N66W as a main AP but not in AP mode?

Thanks! Well Gentlemen, I am successfully sending this post through the RT-N66W with the Q1000 set in transparent bridge mode. Thanks for all the help. I am going to need to buy a larger switch now. :) Would there be any settings that I need to tweak on the RT-N66 now that I am using it...

Use RT-N66W as a main AP but not in AP mode?

These replies have been very helpful. thank you all. I started researching the Double NAT that CaptainSTX mentioned, which led me to look at Bridging, which coincidentally led me to the exact same site that jlake linked me to. Back to my project though.... Generally speaking, the RT-N66W...

Use RT-N66W as a main AP but not in AP mode?

So what I am hearing is that if I want to use the three remaining ports on the Q1000 for my main computers I will need to use a 'Double NAT' setup by simply plugging the WAN port on the RT-N66W into one of the ports on the Q1000? But if I want to be able to use such features as the ddns and...

Use RT-N66W as a main AP but not in AP mode?

I want to use my RT-N66W as the main access point for my wireless and all of my kids gaming/steaming connections, but still use my Actiontec Q1000 DSL modem/router as the main hardwire connection for several on my important computers. I currently have the WiFi turned off on the Q1000 and am...

Need help speeding up my office network

I am certainly not an expert here, but at first glance it appears you are bottle-necked at the router since its not a gigabit connection, and also at your external hard drive since its running through a 2.0 USB port on the router. I don't know what program you are using but I assume from my...

    sharing an internet connection, sorta?

Well if its that easy..... :) The fiber side has 4 static IPs, I think. Of which only one is used. I also have a managed switch(HP Procurve) that might even have some empty plugs. If not I will break out the spare. So to start I will want to set up the Switch with just the fiber side running...

    sharing an internet connection, sorta?

I have an idea that I would like to try at my office. I have a 30Meg connection on a dedicated static IP line that is hardly utilized, but does have important traffic on it at times. It's used as a SonicWall VPN link-in for field users to synchronize laptop data infrequently through the day...
