Solved Need help setting up DDNS for cloudflare

Sorry for not posting my solution. Should have thought of it. My script is very similar, with some added retries in case of failure, and discord notifications. Thanks for cleaning up after me! Edit: Figured I'd add my (and ChatGPTs) script, in case someone finds it useful. I've added checks...

Thanks, but I don't want to use Asus' DDNS. I want to update the dns records on cloudflare

Solved Need help setting up DDNS for cloudflare

EDIT: nevermind, figured it out with chatgpt :) Hello, Running asus-merlin on RT-AX86U. Recently switched ISPs and my new one isn't able to provide me with a static IP so I need to set up DDNS. I'm in no way an IT/network professional, but more of a hobbyist. I have a few self hosted services...

Some settings (port forward, mac/ip binding, clients names and icons & more) disappear

Hey, Woke up this morning and noticed my services are not accessible. Looked around a bit and realized my port forwarding table is empty. tried rebooting the routers but it stayed empty. Also noticed that IP bindings and clients names and icons are gone. Not sure what else. I have an ai mesh...

ac86u seems to be stuck in boot loop after firmware update

Wow. Before buying the 86u i've had the 68u for a few years and never experienced anything like this. It would just work. Now I'm terrified of upgrading the FW or even just rebooting the router. Kinda ridiculous. Thanks for the info regardless. I guess next time something like this happens I'll...

ac86u seems to be stuck in boot loop after firmware update

No, last time I got the upload screen mentioned here I loaded 384.7, as it was the last fw my router ran reliably.

ac86u seems to be stuck in boot loop after firmware update

Well, it booted fine again now, after leaving it unplugged for a few hours, so I'm not touching anything :p but that's what I'll do if/when it happens again. Guess I'll skip 384.7.2. Thanks for the help

ac86u seems to be stuck in boot loop after firmware update

So this morning after spending a few hours unplugged the router suddenly booted fine. It behaved oddly though, not seeing all attached devices, and of course without any settings. I made the mistake of trying to boot it again, and now it's stuck in the loop again exactly as before. Does this...

ac86u seems to be stuck in boot loop after firmware update

ac86u seems to be stuck in boot loop after firmware update

Thanks, that's what I figured. Any ideas on what to do since uploading a firmware from the recovery page didn't seem to solve it..

ac86u seems to be stuck in boot loop after firmware update

Router was purchased in the US but I'm currently using it overseas. Theoretically I can send it to someone in the US and have it sent to Asus then they'll ship it to someone in the states who will ship it to me. It'll just take forever and if there is a way to unbrick it, I would much rather do...

ac86u seems to be stuck in boot loop after firmware update

I have. No dice. Something strange I've noticed though - when I put the router is rescue mode I can ping it at 192.168.1.1, but when Asus firmware restoration utility starts looking for the router the ping stops as if it throws the router out of rescue mode. Strange stuff.

ac86u seems to be stuck in boot loop after firmware update

I've tried it but what happens is that it tries to connect to the router for 30 seconds and afterwards says the router isn't in rescue mode.

ac86u seems to be stuck in boot loop after firmware update

Thank you for the detailed instructions. Unfortunately, when I get to step 4 (kind of an important step) my browser doesn't load any page. Not at 192.168.50.1 or at 192.168.1.1. (surprisingly I am able to ping 192.168.1.1, but nothing other than ping). So no CFE window for me :( More ideas?

ac86u seems to be stuck in boot loop after firmware update

I'm not familiar with this method and can't seem to get it to work. When I turn the router on with the reset button pressed nothing happens. It continues to boot loop. Can't get CFE window to show. would love to hear suggestions other than replacing the router since it was purchased in the US...

ac86u seems to be stuck in boot loop after firmware update

I really hope someone here will know how to help me. @RMerlin perhaps? I can't really do an RMA with this, and have no backup routers at the moment. Using up my cell phone's data plan looking for help here...

that doesnt do anything. I think we're beyond that.

ac86u seems to be stuck in boot loop after firmware update

Not sure what you mean - GUI is not accessible at all. Using the reset button on the back doesn't seem to do anything either. Only way to get something other than the loop is using the WPS button which leads me to the screen attached to my previous post. Not 100% sure what to do there but when i...

ac86u seems to be stuck in boot loop after firmware update

The only way I managed to reach anywhere with the router is this screen after turning on while pressing WPS button - Do I need to select a partition there? There is a blank option and 1, 2 and 3. I tried uploading older firmware while not selecting anything in that menu (blank) but nothing...

ac86u seems to be stuck in boot loop after firmware update

Thanks but that seems to a different issue. Mine doesn't stay off, its stuck in a loop and never reboots no matter how many times I try to reboot it.
