    Netgear RAX200

What about MU-MIMO in both directions? Spec sheets of a lot of ax routers mention both directions.

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

Never judge software by it's UI if the UI is not the important part of the software. There are many VERY capable programmers out there who are just not good at making UIs or who don't even bother. That doesn't mean the software is bad.

    RT-AC88U

Hi guys, I own two AC87 routers and operate them in bridge mode. I am only getting a 975 mbit link between the two (so nowhere near the 17xx that it should be able to do) and the disaster with MU-MIMO (which was never really delivered on the AC87, despite the fact they made this a major selling...

Best way to use an ASUS RT-AC87 to extend range of existing RT-AC87?

You actually do have a repeater mode in the AC87. It's called "WDS", to be found in Wireless config tab.

So where is AC87's MU-MIMO that we were promised?

And since you were asking for a reference, here is one: http://www.networkworld.com/article/2449591/wi-fi/what-to-expect-from-11ac-s-next-big-deal-multiuser-mimo.html

So where is AC87's MU-MIMO that we were promised?

I think there would be a benefit between bridges if you also have clients on your network. I have lot's of clients, Wifi as well as wired (connected to switches behind the AC87 bridges). MU-MIMO is not about speed, it's about efficiency. I would expect that if my routers would use MU-MIMO...

So where is AC87's MU-MIMO that we were promised?

Isn't the number of streams irrelevant? The key is the MU in the MIMO. If the router has 4*4 MU-MIMO, it can serve up to 4 MU-MIMO radio clients at the same time. The client does not need to have the same number of spatial streams. All it takes is one. But again, I don't care about the clients...

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

Still don't agree, at least not entirely :) If consumers don't vent and rant, companies will not change. They will keep releasing rubbish. It's not my fault that their router is a bad product. I can see and understand how they are having issues with the driver and have to rely on third parties...

So where is AC87's MU-MIMO that we were promised?

Taken right from their website, front page for the product: They have it somewhere in a footnote, in the small-print that this will only be enabled later. Anyway, I am not interested in battling with you over this. My point was and is that this is still not enabled. Your response was that...

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

I don't agree. I am not going to be thankful for a router that has nothing but issues. And I am not going to be thankful if I have to reset my router every time they release a new driver. That's bollocks. Am I thankful that they mention that I have to do it? No. That's the least I expect.

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

They require a factory reset AGAIN? WTF?

So where is AC87's MU-MIMO that we were promised?

They certainly would. The bridges are clients and the download speed is all I am interested in. As I side-note, I know quite well what MU-MIMO is and how it works, thank you. So now you even know my network and my network usage patterns? Impressive. Not crying. And how long has the AC87 on...

    Replacement for Asus AC87

Thanks eusrio. Actually I am not interested in all the fancy and nice firmware features as I am only using these boxes as simple Access Points and Bridges. I have a different router/firewall that takes care of the internet uplink and has all the fancy stuff :)

So where is AC87's MU-MIMO that we were promised?

That's not the point. The point is that they actively advertise the product as a MU-MIMO product. Whether I can use the feature *now* or not is irrelevant. But anyway, I am going to use the feature now if it were enabled. I will deploy 2 more AC87 routers in bridge mode, and if they all had...

    Replacement for Asus AC87

Also, did Netgear ever enable MU-MIMO on the R7500?

    Replacement for Asus AC87

Hi, the Asus AC87 was my first Asus router and I am pretty disappointed. It has nothing but issues, some of them completely unacceptable (just read the Firmware thread in the Asus subforum and you'll know what I mean). In addition, the router was sold as a Wave 2 product with support for...

So where is AC87's MU-MIMO that we were promised?

Asus sells the AC87 as a "Wave 2" device with MU-MIMO support. Yet, that feature is not available. Asus promised to enable this with a later firmware release. What's up with that? When will I get the MU-MIMO I paid for?

    ASUS RT-AC87U Dual-band Wireless-AC2400 Gigabit Router Reviewed

MY router is already only configured with the bare minimum. I don't use any of them fancy features, only use it as a plain and simple access point. As I said, I tried all setting, different client, to no avail.
