Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.6 is now available

That's very much like the IP address my desktop computer assigns itself when it can't get to DHCP for some reason...here's a low-tech explanation I found on the internet: https://askleo.com/why_cant_i_connect_with_a_169254xx_ip_address/

    It's time to buy RT-BE96U?

Another recommendation for the RT-BE96U. Working great for me, best wireless coverage I've had, and has been very reliable on the latest firmware. Been up for about 4 weeks now since I last rebooted it. I do have a phone that has wifi-7, works well on 6GHz.

Release ASUS ZenWiFi AX (XT8) Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.24609

Can't give a personal review to this version of firmware since I'm not currently using the ZenWiFi AX, but given the previous version is from back in May of last year and from all the fixes that are included in this new one, I'd be trying it out. Especially if one doesn't have anything more...

Solved Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Doesn't Detect 6Ghz Band on Wifi Router

I use my Pixel 8 on 6GHz. band here at home on the RT-BE96U. Works great, full speed all the way across the house from the router. The Analiti Wi-Fi Analyzer has 6GHz. analysis capability, but if your S24 isn't connecting, it may or may not see it. Something to try, though.

    GT-BE98 WIFI 7

Yes, I was also expecting shorter range with 6GHz than 5GHz. But both 5GHz and 6GHz. go across my house from one end to the other, and deliver my full ISP download speed via wireless on internet speed tests. I don't have a version of Wi-Fi Analyzer that has 6GHz. yet, but no speed at range...

    RT-BE96U Tri-Band

It would be a favor for us all if you could go into the "Administration" tab, and use the "Feedback" report tab to report your findings to Asus. I've done this a few times, and it really doesn't take long. Thanks!

    RT-BE96U Tri-Band

The firmware rolls forward automatically with "auto firmware update" (on the web admin UI firmware upgrade admin tab) turned off? Haven't experienced that on any Asus router I've used, including this one. I wouldn't like that for this very reason...that's a big part of why I moved off Orbi's to...

    RT-BE96U Tri-Band

I didn't reset to defaults after 32882, but did after 32772, which is likely very similar. No problems here, either. But not using 160MHz. channel width with IPv6. No reason to turn on IPv6 here. And no problem with QoS turning on. However data traffic statistics is working well, so Trend Data...

I have had my fill of the XT8 ignoring the 5GHz-2 backhaul as an AiMesh node...

Wondering if your backhaul reverting to 2.4GHz. is as simple as having the XT8 nodes too far apart? Never had this happen, my nodes are about 40' apart, and always shows "Great" connection. Wireless is variable, and it can look good when you first connect them, but if the wireless varies enough...

RT-BE96U latest firmware appears to break DNS - 3.0.0.4.106_32460

32872 is better, stable for me, not experiencing any DNS problem using DoT. Actually, I now see 32882 on the firmware download site now, should try that one next. Update: 32882 looks fine, too. Doing well, but only up a couple of days so far.

    RT-BE96U Tri-Band

Yes, but...$700 is pretty steep for a wifi-6 router *smile*. Even for a very fast one.

    RT-BE96U Tri-Band

3.0.0.6.102_32872 is listed in the review, so the latest, then. Thinking about this one myself after reading Dong's review...only one wifi-7 client, though, and that's a phone *smile*.

Release ASUS ZenWiFi AX (XT8) Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.23285

This firmware version has been great so far. Stable and working well. Also, no problems with the wireless backhaul, as usual. The 160MHz. wireless backhaul channel width with the UNII-4 channels is very stable. Actually, I've never had a problem with wireless backhaul with this mesh. The ZenWiFi...

Release ASUS GT-AX6000 Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_21514

Wonder how much of Asus's firmware development bandwidth is going into wifi-7 firmware? I'll bet developing and stabilizing that's taking a lot of their time at this point. Yes, both this firmware version, and RMerlin's latest have been stable enough for me, as well. I do like new features and...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.4 is now available

Yeah, behavior of the router as a whole is stable, hence every part of the router that I use is stable. For both the GT-AX6000 and RT-AX3000.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.4 is now available

Have used both, and RMerlin's firmware is more stable than the new 3.0.0.6 firmware line so far. I didn't have a lot of problems with the 3.0.0.6 firmware, just one in particular, but no problems with 3004.388.4 over similar periods of time.

    Beta Asus RT-AX89X_9.0.0.4_388_31185 Beta

60C is a good, moderate, not too hot temperature. That won't damage your CPU or radios...I don't start getting worried until I see temperatures up into the 80's. But even the 80's isn't too hot, I do worry about temps that high shortening the life of electronics, though. And if that happens that...

    GT-AX 6000 - firmware 3004.388.4 -VLAN

Not Merlin, but Asus's latest firmware for the GT-AX6000, 3.0.0.6.102_21514, does have VLAN functionality. Worth a try, unless you have to have both VLAN and Merlin. It isn't clear if Merlin will support the 3.0.0.6.* Asus firmware yet, but seems to me that there's a real good chance that will...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.4 is now available

I've had no problems in the three weeks or so that I've been using this firmware version with DoT. Using Clouldflare, the 1.1.1.2/1.0.0.2 servers, and it's working well for me. Haven't used Control-D, but NextDNS also worked well for me.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.4 is now available

Just in case you didn't know, there's a button on the router to turn off or turn on the LED's. The button's on the right side near the bottom, looking from the front of the router. So you don't need to bring up the GUI to deal with the LED's. I find the button to be a good option, since our...
