    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.45 is out

I'm currently running RT-N66U_3.0.0.4_374.40_0 on my RTn66u. I know it's quite old, so i want to update. Can i update to this version without clearing the nvram, or is it better to clearing the nvram (reset all) and configure the router from scratch?
