AX88U WAN aggregation using Merlin firmware

So I finally got around to creating a ticket with ASUS and got the following response: Your feedback is very much appreciated. It will aid in further developments of our products to fit customer’s needs. Your feedback has been sent to our development department accordingly as this is currently...

AX88U WAN aggregation using Merlin firmware

Same here...not competent enough to make this change and compile my own build even to test. Anyone out there willing to give @MattM and I a helping hand??? :D Otherwise looks like we're stuck at 1Gbps unless Asus have a change of heart. How did you contact them? Maybe they'll take more pity on...

AX88U WAN aggregation using Merlin firmware

I too am on Virgin Media with a Hub 4 and came searching for this very same answer. Very disappointing to hear Asus won't implement this. I have an AX88U, which doesn't have a 2.5Gb port, so even when the Hub 5 comes available I won't be able to get >1Gb speeds. Is it really a hardware...

Block all IPv6 traffic from specific device: use iptables?

@PeterR does putting the rule in the INPUT chain work for you? I could have sworn I tried that and it didn't work for me. I'll need to try again and see what happens. If it works there, it makes more sense to go in the default filter table than the mangle table like I'm doing.

Block all IPv6 traffic from specific device: use iptables?

Putting the rule in the forward chain of the filter table had no effect, and I think it's because the mac address has already been changed by the time it gets there? I think it needs to go into the prerouting chain, but there is no prerouting chain in the filter table I agree that the nat table...

Block all IPv6 traffic from specific device: use iptables?

Hi all, I'm hoping you can help with this. I have a Hurricane Electric IPv6 tunnel set up on my router. Unfortunately Netflix sees this as an attempt to circumvent its geoblocking. The simple solution would be to disable IPv6 on my streaming devices, but you can't do this on an Apple TV. So, I...

    [Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.11 is available

I've read through the entire thread but I can't find an answer to this: Is there a reason the main page continually reports the internet status as disconnected? A few people have mentioned it but there doesn't seem to be a way to resolve it. I've rebooted several times and configured the Network...

vpnclient1 up / down scripts (openvpn) ac86u help needed

Thank you for this! Ever since I upgraded my AC86 to 384.11, my openvpn-event sub-scripts would not execute. This has fixed the problem. Any idea what changed in 384.11 to cause this? Or is it just coincidence that it started following the upgrade?

[Beta 382] Asuswrt-Merlin 382.2 Beta is now available

I think I’ve found a bug in 382.2 b2 on my AC86U. After a couple days, my port forwards table goes blank, though I can still reach the ports that are supposed to be open. This is the second time I’ve seen it.

[Beta 382] Asuswrt-Merlin 382.2 Beta is now available

I had the same issue. I found that if I go to the LAN/DHCP Server tab and assign names/icons there, it doesn’t kick me out. Of course this is an option only if you are using manually assigned IPs.

[Beta 382] Asuswrt-Merlin 382.2 Beta is now available

My only other scripts are vpnclient1-route-up and vpnclient1-down (below), though it sounds like scripts aren’t the issue as others have the same problem with no custom scripts running. EDIT: Can you point me to the newer version of the openvpn-event script? #!/bin/sh iptables -I FORWARD -i...

[Beta 382] Asuswrt-Merlin 382.2 Beta is now available

Yes, I have an openvpn-event script, and 2 scripts pertaining to VPN client 1. No scripts for the VPN server. My openvpn-event script is used only to call other scripts and comes from @john9527. I can’t find the thread it came from at the moment...it was a while ago, but here it is: #!/bin/sh...

[Beta 382] Asuswrt-Merlin 382.2 Beta is now available

My 86U is brand new today, so a completely fresh config. Restarting the firewall had no effect.

[Beta 382] Asuswrt-Merlin 382.2 Beta is now available

Same problem as @Dave_90: OpenVPN server except on the 86U. All WAN traffic from connected clients is blocked. It’s a brand new 86U with a fresh install/config of 382.2b1. All VPN settings were copied over manually (with no changes) from a 68U running 380.69. A new OVPN config file was generated...

[Beta 382] Asuswrt-Merlin 382.2 Beta is now available

I tried that earlier just to see what would happen. If I set to local network only, the client’s traffic is routed over its local WAN connection instead of routing over the VPN.

No change for me either. Log stil showing traffic getting dropped

[Beta 382] Asuswrt-Merlin 382.2 Beta is now available

Just to clarify, are we talking about the same thing? I have no issues with the OpenVPN client on the router...that’s working as expected. I’m having issues with the OpenVPN server. If clients connect to the OpenVPN server on my router, they can reach the LAN but not the WAN...the firewall is...

[Beta 382] Asuswrt-Merlin 382.2 Beta is now available

I’m also having problems with the VPN Server on 382.2 beta on the 86u. I manually re-entered my VPN Server settings exactly from 380.69 on the 68u. Clients can connect to the VPN and have LAN access but no WAN access. In the router log I see the firewall is dropping all traffic coming from VPN...

Merlin, which router should I buy

Yes, VPN client. Direct connection via my desktop can max out my 80/20 fibre connection, so that shouldn’t be a bottleneck.

Merlin, which router should I buy

My VPN provider (AirVPN) only supports AES-256-CBC, so I can’t use a lower cipher. After reading @RMerlin ’s post above about the 86U’s VPN performance, I’ve placed an order for one and it arrives tomorrow.
