Beta GT-AXE16000 9.0.0.6.102_4856 New Beta Firmware Release Notes

Anyone able to get 3 concurrent WireGuard sessions on this router? I've tried it on other routers running 3.0.0.6 and always get the msg about it being limited to 2 - pls disconnect one before trying to connect another one. I used to run two ASUS routers to get 4 concurrent WireGuard sessions...

Release ASUS RT-AX88U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_23748

He saves a lot on heating…. All that radiation! I run 3 routers for 12 clients because of my 6 tunnels!

Release ASUS RT-AX88U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_23748

No 3.0.0.6 branch for the AX88U then. Check update not showing any new version. That means I need to download & unzip. Bit over this, if I’m honest.

Beta ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 Firmware version 9.0.0.6.102.3506

No release version for this model yet? I use the 3.0.0.6.102 branch on other routers and I’m very happy with it.

Release ASUS GT-AX6000 Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_21514

A more interesting question would be whether anything older than the AX6000 will be getting 3.0.0.6

Release ASUS GT-AX6000 Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_21514

I doubt it. I updated just minutes ago from the GUI. It couldn’t have been smoother. I didn’t even have to reboot. Errr, guys, this is an AX6000 thread.

    Release ASUS GT-AX6000 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.23285 (2023/05/12)

Correct I wouldn’t want an ACMA van driving past your place with their antenna scanning the local frequency spectrum - and detecting something unauthorised. They can issue a fine. ACMA = Australian Communications and Media Authority

    Release ASUS GT-AX6000 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.23285 (2023/05/12)

The reason to change your country setting to Australia is not so that you get some sort benefit. You might be getting good speeds but what about your neighbours? You’ll most likely be “stepping on their toes”, using frequencies that are not authorised for use in Australia, and creating problems...

Is it ok to buy RT-AX86U from US to use in NZ?

Check whether NZ Wifi frequency allocations are the same as AUS - shouldn’t be too hard. AUS wifi frequencies are supported - user selectable.

Beta ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 Firmware v9.0.0.6.102.4856

I will wait for the next beta and try the guest network pro as a VPN tunnel. Recently went back to latest stock. If that “other” VPN network is in addition to the two WireGuard tunnels I have setup in VPN Fusion - that would be useful. Personally, I don’t see the point of that VPN Pro network...

Beta ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 Firmware v9.0.0.6.102.4856

Would it be possible to create a VLAN for a specific VPN tunnel and route all that traffic through the VLAN? (most likely yes) … and then create a WiFi interface linked to that VLAN? By interface I guess you mean IP range. Even better would be creating an SSID for that VLAN so that all tunnel...

    Beta RT-AX86U Pro firmware 9.0.0.6.102.4856 2023/3/21

I don’t need 5. But if I’m going to buy an AXE16000 - I expect 4. Even on my AX6000 I would expect 3. The reality is that I have 4 WireGuard sessions running 24/7 - which I achieve using two routers. I’m happy with the outcome. It meets my use case. I find the way that VPN Fusion binds...

    Beta RT-AX86U Pro firmware 9.0.0.6.102.4856 2023/3/21

5 WireGuard sessions? My understanding was that VPN Director sits on top of stock ASUS VPN code. I thought VPN Director added advanced policy routing. Something not available in stock code, and something I don’t need.

    Release Version ASUS GT-AXE16000 Firmware 3.0.0.4.388.23012 (2023/04/19)

Hi cc666, Do you have any update for me on whether more than 2 concurrent VPN sessions are possible with this router & firmware? WireGuard preferred but I’d also be happy to about OpenVPN sessions.

    Beta RT-AX86U Pro firmware 9.0.0.6.102.4856 2023/3/21

You mean 2 concurrent VPNs? Yes, this is my pet peeve. I haven’t confirmed this using OpenVPN - but it’s definitely the case for WireGuard. And I believe it applies across all models - not just the lower end ones. Glad I didn’t buy an AXE16000 only to find that only 2 concurrent VPN sessions...

Beta ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 Firmware v9.0.0.6.102.4856

I would say closer to 4 weeks - but it seems like a lot longer. Guess I’m just used to 2 week beta cycles. That sounds like a great idea for a new thread. Differences between .4 and .6

Beta ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 Firmware v9.0.0.6.102.4856

Yes, this is a beta and an old one at that. Does the network map issue exist in the latest release version for the AX6000, which is newer but lacks the Pro features? Can’t comment on OpenVPN as I now use WireGuard exclusively. If only ASUS would allow more than 2 concurrent VPN sessions, I...
