    Predictions about Apple Wi-Fi products

@sfx2000: how about the rumour to integrate homekit, siri, and a speaker into the thing, just like Google and Amazon did?

    Goodbye WRT1900ac - comments below

I own the V2, and after some initial hickups it is now running OpenWRT DD-trunk with the .17 driver very well, and very stable. My experience is that vendor based firmware is never maintained well, nor long. Open source firmware like ddwrt or openwrt is therefore the best alternative to give a...

@Allegator: that the hardware is the same, doesn't mean that the boot image is identical.

They have different builds only because the ACS identifies itself with a different board ID, as can be seen here: https://dev.openwrt.org/changeset/47165

    Linksys EA7500 AC1900 (3x3) MU-MIMO Router

That CPU is a really strong one though, about 10 percent faster than the 1.6ghz that sits currently in the WRT1900ACS

That is the number one reason why i've bought the V2, strong hardware, decent build, and at that moment support from both dd-wrt and openwrt, so i would never get stuck on the firmware linksys provides. Only pet peeve until now is the horrible job they've did with the opensource Wifi driver...

What i'm confused about is that you ignore the existance of the v2, and talk as if the V1 can still be bought in the shops. But it is now confirmed the ACS and the V2 are identical, and have the same FCC-ID. So it IS just a rebadged V2. Credits for the guy that found it...

It's 1.6, i've compared the bogomips between the V1 and the V2, and the difference is exactly the 1.2/1.6 more interesting is that the openwrt and dd-wrt bogomips figures of the v2 indicate that it doesn't do CPU throttling in the V2, while it still does in the V1. all in all, my conclusion...

    Linksys WRT-1900ACS Reviewed

To be honest i find this review a little confusing due to the disregard of the existence of the wrt1900ac v2 model in between. The old models that are still available in the shops are likely v2 models (also without a fan) and not the orginal v1 with the fan). Might be worth mentioning this in...

thanks for chipping in Azazel. i'm afraid we are the odd one out here :-)

    Power usage

Well, according to hardware.info e.g. the Asus routers draw roughly double the amount of power than the Netgear versions (e.g. 8W for a r7500, vs 13.3W for an ac-87u). Double the wattage is double the cost. Over a lifespan of 5 years, that is a difference of about $120,- here in Europe. But...

    Power usage

hi all. I was wondering, would it be possible to include the power usage (idle and under load) in the future reviews? I am trying to find good independent figures on power usage of the routers and they are pretty hard to find. Only hardware.info seems to measure them, but it would be nice to...
