Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.12 is now available for AC models

FWIW on my RT-AC68U the 386.12 release caused the DCD crashing due to my use of the traffic analyzer (none of the other features) 386.12_1-g0251ee445a has apparently stopped that crashing.

    Struggling with dnsmasq

The only thing I'll add is - the router was not built with you taking control over the config files of the components such as dnsmasq. Take note of the warning: Note that replacing a config file with your own implies that you properly fill in all the fields usually dynamically created by the...

    [384.18_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

IIRC about the time asus locked the ability to change regions down, my australian purchased router became locked to US channels only. I can't recall all the commands to test this now but a wl country returns US (US/0) UNITED STATES

ASUS firmware DHCP "Continuous Mode" potential fix for "ISP's DHCP did not function properly"

Can I suggest the config page is not a "90's adventure game", please avoid the voodoo of "rub everything on everything else, with no context, to achieve an outcome". Messing with TTL or MAC is unlikely to have any relevance here. These are usually to bypass ISP's who want to mandate specific...

ASUS firmware DHCP "Continuous Mode" potential fix for "ISP's DHCP did not function properly"

Hey guys, none of this is new information (although it might be to people reading the DHCP error message red-herring). I'm pretty sure both asus and merlin know the wanduck code is crap. They don't need me to give them my poor interpretation :) What I meant by reach out to asus is: If...

ASUS firmware DHCP "Continuous Mode" potential fix for "ISP's DHCP did not function properly"

OK, I am not experiencing now my connection is stable. However I now believe my experience receiving this error had nothing to do with DHCP. Digging further, the error "ISP's DHCP did not function properly" seems to be thrown by this bit of code in wanduck...

ASUS firmware DHCP "Continuous Mode" potential fix for "ISP's DHCP did not function properly"

Update, I still can't test this because I don't have this issue on my Optus HFC connection (sane 2 day DHCP leases) and my ABB NBN HFC connection won't stay stable for 15 minutes straight. What is the proposed fix? If you're very savvy - you might be able to run the DHCP daemon on your router...

ASUS firmware DHCP "Continuous Mode" potential fix for "ISP's DHCP did not function properly"

TL;DR: Unlikely to see this in merlin firmware until it re-bases on 386.x code unless he chooses to backport the feature in some way. I've asked merlin and his response was the feature is not in "384_81351 which is used for 384.15" (current at time of writing) and he's only seen it in the...

ASUS firmware DHCP "Continuous Mode" potential fix for "ISP's DHCP did not function properly"

FYI - creating this thread because I can't find this issue/solution concisely documented anywhere else, please add any info below. I can see a number Australians on the new NBN (a government run, centrally managed ISP 'platform') are experiencing issues with DHCP and asus routers in particular...

VMWare Fusion - Asus not assigning IP Address to Guest Machine

Just as a test, try turning the firewall off on your win 10 guest, see if that's interfering with dhcp. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk

    RAID 1 using RT-AC68U

Raid is not a backup, what screws up your data on one drive, screws it on the second in real time! If Your question is really: how can I keep my data safe from corruption/deletion then raid is not the answer. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.67 Beta is now available

Not a big specific to this fw. I've had this PIA > time out > bogus auth fail on reconnect on the xxx.64 versions.

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.67 Beta is now available

I hope this isn't too OT/frivolous for this thread Merlin. But I notice you frequently have to chop and change modules from the SDK to get the range of asus routers working. eg: Note that Asus hasn't released GPL drops for all models, so the following models will use a mixture of 7743 and 7378...

    Greetings from backstage

Dear Merlin Just a user of your firmware here, it was my first step away from dd-wrt after many years and I consider it a great step up. First and foremost I wish you all the best with your health. Whatever your ailment is, I hope that you're able to put it to rest as quickly and completely as...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.56_2 is now available

Anecdotally I believe that between 55 and 56 you have merged a bugfix from asus that previously allowed the type of forward above and the same thing via upnp. Hence some queries about why they can't violate the laws of tcp any more. I am curious as to how this was working partially enough before...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.56_2 is now available

Could you describe your desired behavior (what UPnP does under .55 for example) that this isn't doing? To which device do you want each port forwarded to?

Two PS4 on same network with open nat type.

    1. This doesn't have anything to do with merlin's firmware at all so you're better off asking somewhere else. 2. From 30 seconds of googling it looks like your game wants to see port 3074 open inbound toward itself (forwarded to it) so it or it will say you're "moderate" instead of open. If it...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.56_2 is now available

After the dramas with people misunderstanding the feature, if you aren't already comfortable with the CLI and the "nvram set" and "nvram commit" commands may I politely suggest you go with merlins suggested default of leaving it off?

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.56 is available

I had a similar problem and was scratching my head for a while. Here's what I've learned (all experience is based on .55). Straight up: If you're using the merlin fw dns filtering for your client (or all clients) it appears (from my limited experience) by design ALL requests get forced to go to...
