Will I see an appreciable difference upgrading from N66U to AC68U?

I went from the N66U to the AC88U when it came out. My family has about fifteen wireless devices and about eight wired devices. For my family's usage, it is very unlikely that more than three devices will be streaming video wirelessly at the same time. I also have a QNAP NAS that is often...

    Remote Traffic Monitoring?

I did a command similar to the following (made up MAC address below) on my MacBook Pro and saw a couple of sites my 12 year old daughter visited that my wife wouldn't be too happy about: sqlite3 traffic.db "select * from traffic;" | grep 70:1E:E2:22:13:05 | cut -f2 -d\| | sort | uniq

    Remote Traffic Monitoring?

On the RMerlin firmware, I see it saved as /jffs/traffic.db.

    Remote Traffic Monitoring?

You can use scp to copy the traffic.db to your local PC and sqlite to query the traffic. There is a single table called "traffic" in the database. Here is what .fullschema shows in sqlite: sqlite> .fullschema CREATE TABLE traffic(mac TEXT NOT NULL,app_name VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL,cat_name...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.58 is now available

Yesterday, I turned off my cable modem and AC88U, let my cable modem boot all the way up, and then turned on the AC88U. It appears that most IPV6 functionality is working correctly now from the clients' sides. About 9 devices on my home network are getting IPV6 addresses and can connect to IPV6...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.58 is now available

IPV6 is not working reliably for me with 380.58 and Time Warner on my AC88U. The router seems to be getting the proper addresses from TWC and usually seems to be assigning them correctly to a few devices on my network. However, after 10 or 15 minutes, the router will show that no clients have...

    Can't connect to plex securely

The only action that I've had to do related to the router is forward port 32400 to the IP of the Plex server. I have UPnP turned off on my router. If you have UPnP turned on, then you may want to check under Log -> Port Forwarding to make sure 32400 is forwarded properly. If you can connect in...

ASUS RT-AC88U Feedback, Issues and Reviews. Please Share Yours

My AC88U has been working really well, but I did have one strange thing happen about 3 days ago. I have about 5 ports manually forwarded to a QNAP NAS. About 3 days ago, the forwarded ports seemed to disappear from the router as seen on the Log -> Ports Forwarded section. The ports really were...

[Preview] 380.57 alpha test builds for all models

I installed alpha 3 on my AC88U. An issue I was having with DNS for a few of my local devices on the stock firmware is working correctly with this build. I haven't found any major issues with alpha 3 yet.

    Re-order Static DHCP list.

    I think I typically do.

    Re-order Static DHCP list.

I'm the same way. I sometimes even do nvram get dhcp_staticlist, edit the output with vi, and then do nvram set dhcp_staticlist with the sorted information. It makes it easier on me to see what I'm assigning all the devices on my home network.

    [Preview] RT-AC88U and RT-AC3100 380.57 firmware

Yes. There is an option in the web interface for LACP. The option is under the LAN -> Switch Control. The option either enables or disables bonding / link aggregation.

    RT-AC88U

I spent about an hour tonight trying to get link aggregation to work between my AC88U and a TP-Link switch. I tried every configuration on the switch possible with lots of rebooting. I was about to give up when I looked at the ports on the back of the AC88U and saw that they were numbered from...

    RT-AC88U

I replaced my RC-N66U, which I've had since the week it was released. Before I replaced the N66U, I ran a non-scientific speed test by copying a large video file from my QNAP NAS to my MacBook Pro (late 2013) using scp. For the N66U 2.4GHz band, the movie copied in about 2 minutes 37 seconds...
