    378.54_2 was the last "working" version. You are a genius dude, I added 192.168.1.1 to the Synology Firewall on Deny all and my NAS sleeps like a baby on the latest Merlin firmware (380.57)

    No config reset however, I would recommend backing up the config anyway. For me it was as simple as upgrading the firmware normally but just load the old version, no config changed that I could find.

    Synology support says the only solution is to tweak the ARP broadcast interval. Is this possible with the Merlin firmware on the AC87U

    yeah its the damn fans that make all the noise, I have tweaked the fan control file but my room is fairly warm

    Yeah unfortunately its in my room so I like it being quiet overnight but yeah the hourly hdd power ups and down will kill the drive life. yeah it has a static IP outside of the DHCP allocation range. still tries to respond to the ARP broadcast.

    its sleeping because im sleeping! its not in use overnight so to save drive wear and power usage I let it hibernate. Is this unusual for a home NAS? yeah I understand but it has a static ARP entry so is it possible for it to skip the NAS IP?
