    Flashed DD-WRT to r7000p and ipv6 is a nightmare....

I am running dd-wrt kong firmware on a Netgear r7500v2. So my experience might not be valid for the r7000. But to enable ipv6 on dd-wrt kongac firmware, go to admin after signing in and under command line enter ifconfig eth0 promisc and apply. Test your ipv6. If you still have problem with...

Does Asus RT-AC68U in repeater mode allow LAN connections?

There are certain requirements for repeater bridge mode to work. Did you try to connect 2 routers of the same chipsets and make. i.e. 2 rt-ac68u? If yes, then repeater will allow both wifi and lan on the repeater to work. They both need to have the same firmware. Repeater and wds requirements...

    Netgear Orbi discussion thread

Your modem is separate and independent of your router. So no need to buy a different modem, but if you lease from comcast then buying your own will save money.

Asus Introduces HiveSpot and HiveDot Mesh Networking Products

Looks like those mesh systems are going to take over the router market. I have been using repeaters for years but I am keeping an eye on those mesh systems if they are an improvement and it looks like they are.

    Noob MoCA Setup Question

Antronix splitter is fine. That's what I use. Make sure that your TV, Tivo, devices are configured to use moca and ethernet. My Tivos specifically identified moca and ethernet as the network. I noticed that you did not mentioned a cable box before your tvs. You also need a moca POE filter...

    Noob MoCA Setup Question

The street cable is connected to the splitter (or hub as you called it). Use 1 coax from the hub connected to the Actiontec1. From the Actiontec1, Ethernet to the router and the coax output to whatever you want to use moca, i.e. Tivo box. From the hub, 1 coax go to the modem, from the modem to...

Need a new router, under $250, please help.

Netgear has better hardware, Asus better firmware. Your high failure rate needs to be analyzed and fixed, these devices are designed for 24/7 for years.

Need a new router, under $250, please help.

Ubiquiti is an AP not a router as you must know. So your problem could be related to your setup or not. But if you really want a stable LAN and wireless then the Netgear r7800 is probably a good bet. Another option is the Asus rt-ac68u which has real good firmware options if that's your thing. I...

DD-WRT "Kong Mod" Now Available for NETGEAR R7500v2 & R7800

Running KongAC latest (release 9-8-16) on R7500v2 and everything seems to be working fine. The new Netgear firmware 1.0.3.4 did not solve the IPv6 problem with Comcast internet. Netgear did not add the repeater function which I really want.

    Asus Rt-ac1900p firmware

Look at the small label on your box to see what hardware version you have. It's either C1, B2, A1 or something like it. C1 is the newest hardware version which has newer and faster CPU and other enhancements. But as RMerlin posted above not officially supported. If you really want Merlin...

do I need a 2GHz splitter to set up moca network ?

I have a very similar set up with Antronix amplifier-splitter combination and actiontec box in addition to a couple of Tivos. My Tivo Roamio Plus has MOCA built in. My router and cable modem are also in the basement. All my splitters are 1 GHz. Everything is working. so no 2 GHz needed for me. I...

Looking for the best wifi router

I agree. Just recently bought 2 Netgear R7500 V2 AC2350 MIMO and all that, no 3rd party firmware support, OEM firmware just too buggy. So bought 2 Asus RT-AC68U and pretty happy so far.

Did you really tftp a 66u firmware into a 68u router, or was that a typo?
