NETGEAR WNDR4000 N750 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router Reviewed

I agree You should take a screen shot of a file transfer from WLAN to LAN. Connection speed is mostly meaningless when making a claim of how fast your WLAN connection really is. Make one computer wireless to another (wired). Let the transfer stabilize then take a screenshot of the file...

2 E-4200's and now back to WNDR3700! Read on

You must not live in the US to need IPv6. Americans don't care about IPv6:rolleyes: I wonder if Linksys released a firmware upgrade since then? Also wifi cards in your client systems?

Dual Band Wifi for Dense RF areas?

I live next to an apt complex. It's only 2 stories as is my house. I only live in the suburbs and we aren't part of a major metro area. I still have my entire backyard between them and me. With that said, I have Intel 6300 card and I can probably see around 30 unique MACs for APs, many of...

    Cisco E4200 Speed Issue

Do you have the option to upgrade the 1000 to at least a 6200 and preferably a 6300? 1000 is at the bottom of the list and it can only do 2.4Ghz. Unfortunately you also have a Lenovo and they white-list wifi cards so any old 6300 won't work. It has to be specifically Lenovo. Normally you...

How To Crack WPA / WPA2

There's no sure fire bet that WPA/WPA2 can be cracked like this. It's only if the user who setup the target WiFi AP was stupid and set a very weak password. This is opposed to WEP that's crackable regardless of the complexity of the key. This is why I fire: head -c 32 /dev/random | sha256sum...

NETGEAR WNDR4000 N750 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router Reviewed

You don't need to go so far as to buy a whole another laptop. A 6300 card is about $32-35. A pair of Tyco internal wireless antennas with coaxial cable and connector are $7 on our favorite auction site. Those basically get crammed into every laptop that doesn't have "poles" sticking out. You...

NETGEAR WNDR4000 N750 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router Reviewed

This is what I tried telling you last year, thiggins over the DIR-665 review. The 5300 is certified as a 2-stream product. It always has been. It has NEVER to this date been re-certified as a 3-stream product. The 6300 product on the other hand, is certified as a 3-stream product and...

How to: WLAN and mobile internet for small business

I think if you want to tether your phone directly to the Cradlepoint and use it as a the WAN, I think the phone needs to support functioning as a DUN. It lists my old Sprint mogul, and I know I could do that. It doesn't list TP2, and so far I haven't found an app to make that work. It seems...

    Multi APs in a house

Collectively, only channels 1, 6, and 11 do not overlap in 2.4Ghz. If you are gunning for speed, you really should go with 5Ghz. Also they will work better if they are interconnected via ethernet.

setting up wi-fi over 5 story apartment bldg

Are you able to spool wire through all 5 floors? Ideally a setup of this sizeshould use multiple APs (especially at 5Ghz) with ethernet cabling connecting them to a centralized point, like at least a switch.

Issue with Link DIR-665 Speed Review (Inaccurate Info)

Before Smallnetbuidler dismisses this device as no faster than any other 2-stream AP or router, someone really needs to re-run the test with an Intel 6300 wifi chip NOT a 5300 and with 3 antenna not two. First the 5300 is certified for for only 2 streams on a single band, while the 6300 is...
