    HomeKit Smart Outlet Roundup

Tim - do any of these offer an autoping "watchdog" type feature? I have an Amazon Fire TV that seems to need to be rebooted frequently - it would be nice if one of these could watch the Fire and reboot it if it drops off line. Thanks for the great write up! It will be interesting to see this...

Running Cable, need a little help.

If you are doing a lot of those Leviton "female" keystone ends terminated to wall plates recommend a 110 punch down tool that cuts. It makes a clean connection and cuts the wire at the same time. It is spring loaded and takes some force to compress, but not bad. It is helpful to have...

How many of these switches support a Management VLAN ID? So if I have a Local Network, Guest Network, and Management Network and have a trunk port created - can I set the master or default VLAN of any of these switches? It seems that this is a feature found in more expensive units. I wonder...

Does Synology have the hardware equivalent of the TS-453 pro?

Thanks very much for the replies - I will not use it for HTPC duty, but some VM was on the horizon. I am/have purchased the HDHomeRun DVR, want to use the Roku integration as well. I know if I go Synology a new model will ship in a month.... I get the "you can wait forever" part. I am...

Does Synology have the hardware equivalent of the TS-453 pro?

So I am going to lay down some cash on a NAS and retire my WHS (rip.....). I get the impression that the QNAP TS-453 is a nice piece of hardware, but based on what I can ascertain in general, the QNAP is somewhat lacking when compared to Synology DS. The media and automation support Synology...

    NETGEAR Arlo Reviewed

Thank you very much for your response. I am somewhat surprised that Netgear would pick the same channel as your access point to promote co-channel interference on purpose. I was always believed that was a bad thing. I get that it is better than adjacent channel interference, but if I only...

    RT-AC56U Wifi toggling, WAN port

If you do not intend to use 5G it at all - you could simply disable it then the toggle will not come into play at all. You can find it under Wireless>Professional> make sure you select 5GH from the drop down and select NO in the enable line. That should do it. Hope this helps.

Connected to more than one "interface" at a time?

Well - most of what you said was way over my head, but I apprecate your response :-). So that I can at least follow conceptually in the beginning of your post your are talking about ISP, WAN or enterprise level connectivity for large numbers of users over wide areas? I assume those or...
