Tutorial How to Setup a VPN client including Policy Rules for PIA and other VPN providers 384.5 07.10.18

It might be the server your connecting to. I don't always get the best results with the closest-to-me server.

    Liquid Cooled PCs

I overbuilt my current machine 2 years ago, just looking to do something new. Might not take much to update it. MB,CPU, and Ram. The i7 7700k processors have come down since the i9 released. Yes, it is. This build is going to be more expensive than my last one, but that's because of the...

    Liquid Cooled PCs

Thanks for the link. Little more current activity than most I've found in their W/C threads anyway. The ASUS forum suggested by RMerlin didn't pan out. The threads were old and they have EK sponsoring the site. I have found that EK was having problems with their platting flaking off on their...

    Liquid Cooled PCs

Please excuse the misspelling, it happens irregularly with me. I have their Celsius S24 drop-in unit in my current build. My current build is in a Cooler Master HAF XB II EVO case but it doesn't have glass side panels. Good case though at least I like it. As for the budget, it's significant...

    IOT and Security

Doubt I'd be surprised, that's the way I do it myself ;) I have an app on my phone for reading the plugin I have in my trucks OBD2 port, Flipboard (gives me something to read when I'm waiting out somewhere), a TomTom app (so I can do hands free calls when using my GPS), Alexa and Eufy apps...

    Liquid Cooled PCs

I appreciate the feedback, I should have mentioned I want to do a custom built loop. I have a FractialDeisgn drop in unit cooling my CPU in my current machine, but I'm wanting to do a new build and to incorporate GPU into the loop as it gets hot sometimes when gaming unless I turn up the case...

    Liquid Cooled PCs

So I'm wanting to build a liquid cooled PC this year. I have most of the regular hardware (MB/CPU, Fans, PSU, ECT.) for a computer build picked out, but I'm having trouble finding up-to-date info on parts manufacture for water cooling parts. All of the stickies on forums for this type of build...

    IOT and Security

That's why you VLAN a secondary router just for IOT devices. I only use wireless for my IOT and phone, the rest of my network is hardwired. I've never trusted putting personal info into my phone. I do very little on the internet with my phone, solves those kind of problems all together.

    On making Cat6/Cat6a cables

If you can't "make" cat6/6a cables then how do they wire a building with 6/6a? Rhetorical question, the fact is you can make your own 6/6a cables. Know which type you're working with and choose your connectors accordingly, test your connections when you're done ;)

Switch recommendation to isolate LAN clients

Not really, reviews would answer a lot of those questions. And given your choices are well known across the industry, stability and commitment aren't issues that often times come to mind ;)

Newb Alert: Want to segment my IoT. Asus AC68U

Not that I have a lot of IOT's, an Alexa, a couple of plugs and a light bulb, plus my phone. But I have pretty much everything hard wired on my network through a switch, including an older Asus router (66u I think). The Asus is hard wired to the switch but has a static IP set at 192.168.2.1 that...

Yes they have, and I get discount offers through my school email a few times a month. I will say however that while I used the free version from school these last 3 years I finally bought a subscription and left the schools version behind. Those versions are open to configuration changes and/or...

Switch recommendation to isolate LAN clients

I just put my LGS308 back into service last night, nice little switch, easy to configure and set up VLANs. I went with it because of space issues in my new apartment and the way I set up my equipment here, I bought it a couple of years ago and had it sitting around. And yes you need to copy the...

My guess is that the OS will come pre-installed on the 128 G SSD, leaving the 1TB drive for storage. I would wait on any MS Office software, at my school we get it free while were a student through our school email account.

Depends on the degree track she's on. If it's a tech based track spend more money buy a good computer with a lot of memory and processor power some of the programs can be quite demanding. I would shy away from anything with emmc memory. Multi tasking and having multiple windows open now and...
