Is the firmware 32 or 64 bit?

I thought 32 bit is dying?

Using pfSense with a L3 core switch

You are right. I am wrong. I looked at it too fast. There are no hyper threads.

    WIFI Calling

Wi-Fi calling works great for me. When using WI-Fi calling you are not using minutes on time in your phone bill. You are using internet bandwidth. It works well for my wife also. We both have iPhones. And when we have friends over, they use it also across our guest network. We can have...

Using pfSense with a L3 core switch

Your processor has 4 hyperthreads and 4 cores. You should check your BIOS it may be turned off already.

    WIFI Calling

I do it every day, but I don't use ASUS. I can also roam with Wi-Fi calling in my house.

POssibility to turn single TP-link EAP225 access point off during night time, site is Omada OC-200 managed

I don't think you want to be running WPA-Personal. I am running WPA3-Personal.

Using pfSense with a L3 core switch

Does your card link at 2.5g? I think the x710-T2L runs a little cooler and that is my reason for choosing it. Has anybody run a x710-T2? I just remembered one day that I turned off hyperthreading many years ago when I was running Pfsense probably 2.0. It just popped into my head recently...

Using pfSense with a L3 core switch

So, I have turned off hyperthreading in BIOS and I think my pfsense router is running smoother. My CPU usage has gone up a little from 3% to 5%. Otherwise, I am just waiting for the next Pfsense release which should be out around the end of the month. I have been thinking about buying an...

    Truenas or Unraid

Your Windows server has great software RAID. It is very reliable. If you already own Windows server why pay for something else? I would use Windows server. Hardware RAID is faster but for home or small business you probably won't need it. Use software RAID and a 10 gig NIC. Almost all the...

New Fiber Install MoCA Routing Question

Yes, that would not work in Texas as the attics are way too hot in the summer.

    ppoe error with 2 routers

On a small network the QoS needs to be on the first router or you are not doing much good with it.

Is it a good or bad idea to split SSIDS?

It all depends on what kind of network you want to build. I think layer 3 switching with VLANs is a good thing.

It depends on what kind of network you want to build.

Is it a good or bad idea to split SSIDS?

    Voice traffic is very small.

Is it a good or bad idea to split SSIDS?

Maybe this is an ASUS thing. How well it is coded also plays a part. If their coding is still set on mainly using 1 AP.

Is it a good or bad idea to split SSIDS?

I don't think distance plays any part in using separate SSIDs. Since both 2.4GHz and 5GHz are in the same SSID when you get out of 5 GHz range the phone will switch to 2.4GHz. Switching SSIDs is going to screw your voice roaming up.

Cisco WAP571 all choose the same channels

Yes, the n/ac probably. I have not noticed any bad issues if I leave "a" running. I would try for 2.4GHz 80211.n. If you don't notice a problem then I go with it.

Is it a good or bad idea to split SSIDS?

I run 2 SSIDs on each of my 3 APs. One is for guest and the other is for my main LAN. All my APs are setup the same in 1 large virtual AP. I don't split anything out except my guests. My IoT run on my guest wireless. I think roaming works much better this way. I don't use auto for channels...

[Ars] Kremlin-backed hackers are infecting Ubiquity EdgeRouters

They had logger scripts to catch logons. Which I believe is fixed with software. But you need to wipe and replace software, firmware whatever they call it. Just an upgrade will not do it. You need to reset with new firmware and then change the admin log in from default. This is what I have...

So, you thought Bitcoin was untraceable...

I know, everybody thinks they are hiding. The internet would not work if it was not traceable. VPN comes to mind, the internet part is completely traceable. The data content is encrypted but completely traceable.
