RT-BE96U latest firmware appears to break DNS - 3.0.0.4.106_32460

Purchased the router on day one. Was working great until upgraded to latest firmware 3.0.0.4.106_32460 this morning. DNS no matter what settings I tried, would not resolve through router. I even tried manual DNS to google 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 but still no love to network devices. I turned...

On the router there is a tab for AiCloud 2.0. On the first tab there is a link to both Apple and Android apps. These are just the Cloud controls, however there is links to the other ASUS made software also on each listing.

This thread is for the GT-AC5300 which I believe is a total redesign over that of the RT-AC88U and others before the RT-AC5300. The code is so different that RMerlin is not doing support for the GT-AC5300 currently. We found the best way to get ASUS to take notice was to open support tickets...

Asus fixed the "paid app" error that the GT-AC5300 was getting by updating the firmware code.

    Norton Core Router Reviewed

Sorry to be going off topic of the Norton so much. Just looking at the funky internal antennas and board setup made me think of it. A review over external or internal would most likely have to use something like a Cisco 2700/2800 or even 3800 series AP. They come in both flavors. Not so...

    Norton Core Router Reviewed

The review as with other products sort of makes me think it is time for Tim H to do a review/overview of why external or not to do external antennas and how many is just too many. Norton should have done a little more in house clean up on this one before releasing it.

Well, ASUS claims the GT-AC5300 is not vulnerable to the KRACK WPA attack. Lots of other routers named too. https://www.asus.com/Static_WebPage/ASUS-Product-Security-Advisory/ Click on the update for 10/31/2017

So I wrote to ASUS about the KRACK issue. Below is the answer you will get back. Pretty understandable. Thank you for contacting ASUS Product Support. My name is Olga O. I understand that you want to know when are we going to release the firmware update for KRACK wpa2 vulnerability. I know...

Hello DarkSorrow, I have not seen anything from ASUS yet, (UPDATE: TimH found that ASUS had been contacted on Aug 28th by CERT and never responded...http://www.kb.cert.org/vuls/id/CHEU-AQNMXY) however the hack affects both the client and the AP. Both have to be patched with some sort of fix...

Hey cchorrell, Glad to see you are familiar with the products mentioned. The Wiki for this router is at https://wikidevi.com/wiki/ASUS_GT-AC5300 Has some good links to the chipsets and their specs. Agree, it 'should' be better hardware to handle that office than the older series...

    ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 (Owners)

Hello cchorrell, With that much stuff in an office, it is most likely time to look at a professional solution. the ROG series is designed for fast use for only a few users. 10-40 wireless users, on top of the LAN traffic that would already on the LAN for the phones, servers etc would...

    ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 (Owners)

I would have to agree with MarkSW. The router is geared and priced to be sold for hardline gamers with major requirements. It is not the average home user $50 big box weekend special. The router can currently handle most average household requirements with current firmware. Some of the...

Correct vince lally, I found that the wall unit had a blown capacitor on the MYQ garage door opener. Seems to be a common issue on units of about 3 years of age. Available on Amazon for replacement. Hopefully the new one last longer than 3 years. Part is known as "Liftmaster 888LM Security...

Pickles, I did enable SSH/Telnet into my router. The commands appear would work. I did not do them per my provider does not require this, nor do I know what it would do to my current testings of ASUS releases of firmware. Good info to know. Thanks.

Hello Pickles, I do not see any option 61 field on the current beta release of code for the GT-AC5300. You could request it by writing to "'router_feedback@asus.com'"

I have a new wall plate ordered for the MYQ. Arrives Thursday. There is a long list of complaints about the capacitors used in the wall button last about 2-3 years then blow. Causing the same steady beep and no work result. Hopefully have it tested by Friday. UPDATE- After hours of testing...

Warning. Do not click on check for new firmware on the latest 9.0.0.4.382.16603. I did mine tonight and it backwards installed the latest release from August, 3.0.0.4.382.15984. It only said there is a new firmware in a blank popup, never told what version it found. It only had two...
