    Safe to use NAS as internet facing webserver?

    I know that many of the NASes have website software built into them. I'm somewhat worried about actually subjecting the NAS to being accessable on the Internet. What do you guys think? I would think it's a big security risk in doing so. Main Linux distros keep up with saftey patches, not sure...

    [Advice needed] DIR-855 or WRT610N || WMP300N or DWA-556

    Of note, the WRT610N GE switch doesn't support jumbo frames, so it may make sense to go with the WRT400N and pick up a jumbo supporting switch anyway. That being said, Tim, do you have any plans to rerun performance testing on the 610 with updated firmware? I'm having a hard time...

    Qnap TS-219 vs. Synology DS209

    OK Gurus, how would you decide between these two? Looks like the QNAP is $100 more.

    Expanding the ReadyNAS Duo

    This is interesting. I don't see a single disk NAS being sufficient given the largest HD size being 2TB at the moment, and those 2TB HDs not on many NAS approved lists yet. So I see at least the need for a 2 disk NAS, but I wasn't looking to populate both disks at the same time. Reasoning...

    Expanding the ReadyNAS Duo

    I'm presuming that wouldn't look like a single disk anymore and would then be represented to the network as two different disks. The method described also soulds like it could potentially lose data (deleting the RAID 1 volume and converting to RAID 0). Can the QNAP TS-219 or the Synology...

    Expanding the ReadyNAS Duo

    I'm thinking I want a 2 drive NAS in order to pop in a second drive when the first drive becomes full. I just want to make sure I understand the expansion situation with the ReadyNAS Duo. I can't configure the Duo as JBOD, so I won't be able to just pop in 2nd disk to expand, correct? If I...

    Thecus N3200 Pro vs. Netgear ReadyNas Duo

    Help me understand why the Thecus is bad? The Thecus performance difference is significant - 1Gb R/W of 61.4/51.0 vs. 21.4/16.1 for the ReadyNas Duo. A 3x difference :eek:. Unfortunately, the QNAP 219 hasn't been reviewed or on the charts yet :(.

    Thecus N3200 Pro vs. Netgear ReadyNas Duo

    I know the N3200 has capacity for 1 more disk, but other than that, what are the real differences? They seem to be on par pricewise, but the 3200 kills the Duo on performance according to the charts. Thoughts? Thanks!

    1 Drive IDE NAS?

    I have a Hawking HNAS1, but it doesn't support disks larger than 250GB. I recently picked up a 500GB ATA-100 drive off Ebay, and I'd like to find a NAS to put it in. I did try it in my HNAS1, but it didn't work. Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks!

    Linksys WRT610N Simultaneous Dual-N Band Wireless Router Reviewed

    So, I shoud buy the 600? After reading the review, it seems like I should be looking for a 600, given the better max throughput, and more consistent throughput. Am I missing something? Thanks!
