    my understanding is that the vLAN is linked to the SSID (at least the way I was planning to do it). I don’t actually have HomeKit devices (yet), but it looks like a bit more work is required to get it working with an isolated vLAN - Using HomeKit devices across vLANs

    Thanks very much everyone. I'm starting to think VLANs may be a step too far for me at the moment due to complexity, hardware requirements and potential loss of functionality. Maybe I should go back and have another go at getting that Sophos ISO to boot!
