To preserve this thread let’s just agree to disagree

    What is "asd" process?

I have been running my HDD without letting it spin down for the better part of 8 years without any issues. I would guess if my cheap best buy HDD were to fail bc of constantly allowing it to spin, it would’ve by now.

    What is "asd" process?

I guess I will let ASD do its thing until the patch is released, I have my HDD constantly spinning anyways. The noise it creates bc of ASD is annoying though lol

    What is "asd" process?

Ive been trying to figure out why my CPUs on my AC3100 running 386.9 have been high. Having a look at the top processes and looks like ASD CPU usage is constantly at 50%. I have a 4tb HDD connected and according to this thread looks like it's a malware scan being performed. Never saw this on...

    Asus DDNS Unauthorized Registration Request

Yes I did notice after the fact that clock was wrong on my router, fixing it got rid of those errors. Still had the authorization errors after though, so I just changed DNS servers to AFRAID

    Has Asus abandoned asuscomm.com DDNS

I had an outage last week, and opted to switch over to the AFRAID DDNS service, searching through the forums it seems that the Asus DDNS is unstable compared to the other options

    Asus DDNS Unauthorized Registration Request

I unfortunately switched my DDNS to AFRAID so I am no longer able to check. However the service should come back up where you can use your VPN, but I would highly recommend changing the DDNS when you are local to your router again to avoid and future issues. You could temporarily enable WAN...

    Asus DDNS Unauthorized Registration Request

Hey all, have been using the Asus DDNS server with no issues for many years. I used to use it for AiCloud but turned that off and use it now for my OpenVPN server. As of the last month I keep getting an error that my DDNS Status is Inactive and there is an Unauthorized Registration Request...

    OpenVPN with Networked Drive

Hello all, I am fairly new to OpenVPN and have been using it fine for the past year to access my local network when away. My initial use for the VPN or 'Traffic Tunnel' as others may call it, was to be able to stream movies off my HDD connected to my RT-AC3100 running Merlin 384.19. I use an...

Slow HDD Data Transfer on VPN

Thank you for the in-depth information! Since that post I chose to use my VPN only to gain access to local devices and not for streaming media. I think anything more than setting up an OpenVPN for me is too far out of my own knowledge. However the insight you just gave will help me get started...

    Open PortMapper

In the email they also had listed an IP address with a time stamp and what exploit was being used. It wasn't clearly stated if I was necessarily hacked or not though in the email. My ISP is Telus btw

    Open PortMapper

So just a little update. I reached out to my ISP for any further assistance/information and it turns out that it was a mistake on their end and I was NOT hacked. A little inconvenient, but hey at least I realized my firewall was disabled (now it’s not). Thanks for the help once again!

    Open PortMapper

so now I have been able to sit down and properly assess the situation. Could this have anything to do with me VPNing into my network to access my ai-HDD?

    Open PortMapper

Thanks for the help though, really appreciate it

    Open PortMapper

So I’ll be doing a factory restore right now, going to be running security scans on all possible devices. I should be safe to enable NFS as long as firewall is on right?
