    RT-AC68U Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7.2 can't access login since firmware update

Well, I found out a couple of days ago that I'm locked out of the Admin screen again... and this time booting into Linux hasn't worked. But also, this time, I haven't reset the router as everything seems to be working as it is: the USB drive is still connected and I CAN access folders and files...

    RT-AC68U Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7.2 can't access login since firmware update

I've now changed settings in Local Access Config to allow both https and http access. I also generated a new security certificate as the one installed referred to 192.168.1.1 As neither HTTP nor HTTPS LAN Ports are 443, does that indicate there wasn't a clash with the AiCloud Web Access Port...

    RT-AC68U Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7.2 can't access login since firmware update

I don't understand it either... but then Windows always has thrown up issues from time to time that I don't understand... and networking issues quite regularly among those...! ;-)

    RT-AC68U Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7.2 can't access login since firmware update

Thanks for your help with this, folks. I think I've sorted it without any further resets / restoration / firmware change... Thought I'd try accessing through a different OS... tried an old Asus Infinity tablet (Android)... no joy... Installed Linux (FossaPupx64) on a USB flash drive, running...

    RT-AC68U Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7.2 can't access login since firmware update

Yep, that's what I've been doing... removed USB before any reset and haven't reattached it. How do I flash any firmware to the router without access to the GUI..? I see in the manual that I could put the router into Recovery mode to do this IF the router wasn't working. But there's a...

    RT-AC68U Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7.2 can't access login since firmware update

I hard reset again this morning to see if I could get into the GUI again, as yesterday. No joy, it just brought up the QIS wizard... not many configuration options there, so if SSH isn't enabled by default I guess it won't be. I'd need a tutorial on how to use that anyway..! ;-) Wondering...

    RT-AC68U Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7.2 can't access login since firmware update

Thanks Yota, that looked like a hopeful solution but unfortunately not. Connection being refused every time. Connection also gets refused from within Asus Device Discovery/Configure

    RT-AC68U Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7.2 can't access login since firmware update

I'm not sure I understand what you mean?! I'm trying to access login GUI using AC68U's assigned IP address.

    RT-AC68U Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7.2 can't access login since firmware update

Yes, computer is on 192.168.0.xx At present, only the AC68U and another Access Point are connected wired to Fritz!Box LAN ports (AC68U WAN is connected to Fritz!Box LAN). The AC68U Access Point is providing wireless 2.4G and 5G networks, which some devices are connected to; others are connected...

    RT-AC68U Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7.2 can't access login since firmware update

Asus Device Discovery, Advanced IP Scanner and Fritz!Box all report that as AC68U IP address

    RT-AC68U Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7.2 can't access login since firmware update

Oh, yes, Asus Discovery finds the router and I know the IP address: it's 192.168.0.39 Router won't allow connection from within Asus Discovery either

    RT-AC68U Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7.2 can't access login since firmware update

If I reset again, and can get back into the login... Are there any reasons not to reverse the firmware update, taking the router back to 386.5_2...? Are there any changes in 386.7_2 that could possibly be causing this..?

    RT-AC68U Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7.2 can't access login since firmware update

Hmm... that was too quick. I'd had the AC68U next to the table I'm working on so I could get to it easily. Powered it off to put it back where it's usually kept. Connected back up, powered on => Wireless and ethernet connections to internet through it are working fine, but I can't get access...

    RT-AC68U Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7.2 can't access login since firmware update

Hi both, I probably should have said the AC68U is configured as an Access Point, connected via ethernet to gateway router, Fritz!Box 7590. The FritzBox allocates AC68U IP address: 192.168.0.39 This has always worked in the past. router.asus.com doesn't work... the AC68U won't allow connection...

    RT-AC68U Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7.2 can't access login since firmware update

Since I updated firmware to Merlin 386.7.2 the router is refusing access to login to the GUI. I've reset a few times now. The first connection after factory reset brings up the configuration wizard and works each time, but after configuration the router rejects connections to its IP address for...
