    Synology RT2600ac Router Reviewed

It's dual core. And Qualcomm is being very, very misleading, IMO. Many of these RISC based processors used, have a packet processing/offloading/accelerator(s) (whatever they/you want to call'em). So, basically you can say something like the BCM4706 is a triple core, if you go by their...

    Linksys EA8500 Max-Stream AC2600 MU-MIMO Smart Wi-Fi Router Reviewed

Logic is included in the processor to handle AES/3DES/SHA. Support and implementation is unknown but there is also the fact of OpenWRT. http://www.anandtech.com/show/7526/qualcomm-atheros-announces-new-internet-processor-lineup-ipq8064-and-ipq8062

Setting Up And Using OpenVPN On ASUS Routers

There are a couple of issues with the integrated OpenVPN servers on the Netgear routers that I know about. The first is there is no support for iOS and Android devices. The second issue is if the certificate is given to someone you cannot easily revoke the rights to that VPN user by changing...

uPnP and Port Forwarding (Teredo Issues)

Are the consoles using reservations for their IP's; are they static IP's? Keep the forwarding list clean still for now, if you can. Besides, how you have it set is not how it works: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_triggering. Also, when the console B is not in the list does it shows...

uPnP and Port Forwarding (Teredo Issues)

All the triggered ports are unnecessary, including the ranges that you have opened. UPnP is port triggering, but better. Triggering is dynamic and technically should only have one entry 3074. What happens when all of these are removed? You can back up the settings and restore afterwards.

uPnP and Port Forwarding (Teredo Issues)

Yes, that is a modem only device. So, it is possibly settings within the router or XBox settings. What are the settings for UPnP/NAT-PMP and such that you have toggled/enabled/disabled? Do you have any conflicting rules/scripts/configurations for the router? Automatic settings for the XBox's...

uPnP and Port Forwarding (Teredo Issues)

Blackhole is really unnecessary. What is more important is the fact that you do, or dot not have two network (Layer 3) domains performing NAT. The problem is inherent with some NAT types when it comes to a port and for multiple IP's. You will need 1:1 NAT, or a proper configured network...

uPnP and Port Forwarding (Teredo Issues)

Port forwarding always overrides UPnP. Therefore, you should only use UPnP which can dynamically handle the hosts; at least it should. When you punch-a-hole into NAT it is the only rule for that private host (IP). For example, if you have forwarding of TCP/UDP 3074 to xxx.xxx.xxx.002 those...

    NETGEAR R7500 Nighthawk X4 AC2350 Router

I wouldn't be surprised if it is a combination. Something feels off overall with the host device. It seems that the power saving control may be a bit off too. As if the processor is not at proper clocks for the workload or is too conservative with the clocks. Perhaps, some synchronization...

    NETGEAR R7500 Nighthawk X4 AC2350 Router

Merlin, one day when I am in Canada I am going to find you and treat you to some "Bro" beers for all the work you do. Actually that wasn't the problem. The router boot time is very, very long. Setup takes for ever, with the rebooting and saving of the settings. Web browsing from page to page...

    NETGEAR R7500 Nighthawk X4 AC2350 Router

This is not a good router. There are actually many cons to this router. This will be place holder and when I get a chance to edit this; and I shall soon. But I must say do not buy this router-it is very disappointing. Yes, I have had the pleasure of testing this out. To say the least...it...

    NETGEAR R7500 Nighthawk X4 AC2350 Router

My initial thinking too. They have been released and been developed on since later 2013. Routers were supposed to be released on such chip in the 1st half of 2014, and these are the only dual core 1.4GHz that I know of. This is the one SoC that I have been interested in since its news release...

    pfSense VK-T240E Router Review

pfSense store has a interesting router, it may seem. As some are becoming more fancy with networking and needing a vast range of networking abilities for home, I was curious if it was possible to review the VK-T240E?: https://www.pfsense.org/hardware/pfsense-store.html#vkt40e Hardware...

Linksys WRT1900AC AC1900 Dual Band Wireless Router Review

You are assuming; this is the problem. With my experience and knowledge of hardware I can make the SNB charts a nice read and I can also translate how the flow of packets will be on my network from them. Also, I am biased against these sites due to the fact that they never present the...

Linksys WRT1900AC AC1900 Dual Band Wireless Router Review

Funny thing is, I do not care about 802.11x :). I do, understand the "mixed bag" of results that you will get with wireless, and I inform others of this all the time. But there is a more trust worthy approach here and from you than what you would get from say PCMag, CNet, et al. I trust your...

Linksys WRT1900AC AC1900 Dual Band Wireless Router Review

With Broadcom, this may be this case. However, there seems to be a possibility with Marvell and Linksys concerning this SoC/router that they may support the accelerated features in OpenWRT, which Broadcom wouldn't. But also OpenWRT is a different beast, and may need an insight from you. I...

Linksys WRT1900AC AC1900 Dual Band Wireless Router Review

I do know, for those that are disappointed with features of the firmware, that they are going to be adding OpenVPN to the router. There are a few things that will come later with this router. Its not bad, but it is not a show stopper. Although, the true test will be with OpenWRT and how...

    Linksys WRT1900AC Unboxing

In a video that I was watching, Belkin/Linksys has the intent on coming out with switches and other gear that can stack on the router. I agree and I am pretty sure that is the case.
