ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 $256.99 with discount code

I was hoping to wait until WiFi7 too, but the 2.4GHz band went out late last week. Can’t complain. I’ve been running the RT-AC5300 24x7 since it came out in 2015 and it’s covered a 3,000 sq ft home admirably.

GT-AX11000 or GT-AXE11000 or GT-AX6000: Which one has better coverage?

    I think I found my answer (using relative measurements) . . . Ref.: https://dongknows.com/best-gaming-routers/

GT-AX11000 or GT-AXE11000 or GT-AX6000: Which one has better coverage?

For those that have used these routers would you please comment on the maximum coverage you've seen by 2.4/5/6GHz band (3000, 4000, 5000 sqft)? I currently have a RT-AC5300 that barely covers the house and am looking to upgrade (perhaps using the RT-AC5300 in a mesh with one of these routers if...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7 is now available for all models

I reread the QUAD9 site and it notes the same as above, but looking at WAN -> Internet Connection -> DNS Server the drop down is different (below).

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7 is now available for all models

Updated RT-AC5300 from 386.5 to 386.7 and it has been running for over four days without issue. Thank you RMerlin! ProtonVPN takes IPV6 down, so I turned off VPN, enabled IPV6, checked IPV6 was working properly, and ran the DNS check as noted in post 344 and saw no issues noted in the log as...

YazFi YazFi Guest Network Isolation - 384.x or 386.x-like?

Thank you for the feedback. I just tested it. When I have “Set AP Isolated” to “No” & “Access Intranet” to “Disable” then no item on the same network/band, e.g., 5Ghz-GN2, is able to communicate with one another. If I change “Access Intranet” to “Enable” then everything is open to everything...

YazFi YazFi Guest Network Isolation - 384.x or 386.x-like?

Thank you. These clarifications are very helpful. As an fyi, my house is of adobe construction so all main and guest network connections are via WiFi. I see the "Set AP Isolated" switch and had the impression that it impacted all, i.e., both the main and guest networks, so have it set to "No"...

YazFi YazFi Guest Network Isolation - 384.x or 386.x-like?

Thank you for the response! If my terminology is inprecise, please let me know. I do want to get it right. On 384.19 I noticed, for example, my 5Ghz GN1 only accessed items within that single network/band. With 386.4 all items on 5Ghz GN1 are isolated from one another, but when I select "Access...

YazFi YazFi Guest Network Isolation - 384.x or 386.x-like?

Moving from RMerlin version 384.19 to 386.4 (after a factory reset!) I've learned Guest Network (GN) access means different things to different people. For security I relied upon main network isolation from all the guest networks on 384.x, but on 386.x selecting "Access Intranet" means it's open...

    SOLVED - 386.4 Guest Network Sharing (JRiver/JRemote)

Based upon the chain of events the key issue was going from 384.19 to 386.4 without a full factory reset. It wasn't until after the reset was performed and the settings were entered manually that the "Access Intranet" setting in the router and disabling the server firewall functioned properly...

    SOLVED - 386.4 Guest Network Sharing (JRiver/JRemote)

I disabled the firewall on the server (ufw disable). The remote now connects if I open port 52199 on the server (ufw allow 52199/tcp). When I sent "All intranet" it picks up everything across all guest networks on 2.4Ghz - certainly not isolated anymore, but a bit too much me thinks. Shouldn't...

    SOLVED - 386.4 Guest Network Sharing (JRiver/JRemote)

Thank you for your help! Yes, I tried "Access Intranet" before I did a factory reset and it didn't work, but I've completed a factory reset since then so I tried again: It still didn't work, so I disabled the firewall and it does. Why it won't function on my local network is very odd, but I now...

    SOLVED - 386.4 Guest Network Sharing (JRiver/JRemote)

Think I know where you're going, so I checked the router settings and by default “Set AP isolated” is set to “No” under Wireless -> Professional But when I ping the remote device it fails, but when I check via “arp –a –n” it shows the correct device IP address for the remote but does not...

    SOLVED - 386.4 Guest Network Sharing (JRiver/JRemote)

The remote and server communicate through port 52199. On the same local network loading the software and selecting an access code permits communication between the server and remote through the port - no other action required. To work through the internet the port needs to be open externally...

    SOLVED - 386.4 Guest Network Sharing (JRiver/JRemote)

This looks like a bug. Multiple music servers no longer function using their dedicated remote on dedicated frequency bands (one per) since moving from 384.19 to 386.4. The people at JRiver provided a lot of items to try over the past two days (and here too!), but to no avail. If it was one...

    SOLVED - 386.4 Guest Network Sharing (JRiver/JRemote)

I don't use backup config files. To ensure firmware updates are "clean", I enter the [very few] changes manually. If a factory reset has to be done 3 or 4 times for it to take doesn't that point to other issues? Like throw out the router and get another? That is a possible option, but hopefully...

    SOLVED - 386.4 Guest Network Sharing (JRiver/JRemote)

I followed the factory reset method you documented. I also set the bands to specific channels and installed Skynet before trying again. (I did try with Skynet disabled after the factory reset too.) Trying to keep it simple.

Yes, that makes sense. Thank you for the feedback. If anyone thinks of anything else to try, please let me know.
