    RT-AC86U Wireless Internet cutting out

    I have these same two routers in wireless AiMesh. They both run 3.0.0.4.386_45956-g23134c9 and I haven't had any issues since upgrading. I spent about an hour slowly re-configuring the routers manually. Prior to that I was running 3.0.0.4.384_82072-gc842320 on both and always had issues. I also...

    Missing Range Item in Wifi Routers' Specs Pages?

    Has anyone noticed that ASUS has removed the range spec in the wifi routers' tech spec pages? I recall the tech specs had a line item for something "Range" and values would be "Large Homes", "Very Large Homes" and maybe others. I remember RT-AC86U had "Very Large Homes". I forgot which one but...

    ASUS rt-ac86u stops broadcasting 2 ghz

    I had this same issue and more. I also wrote about it in a past post: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/is-the-grass-greener-on-the-asus-side.64156/post-585055 Not only was 2.4 going out, sometimes it would be the 5 instead. And sometimes when 2.4 is going crazy, the node's 2.4 LED would...

    DDNS with DNSOMATIC ???

    Yeah, I noticed that when I first posted. I didn't notice anything special in my DDNS config page. It has the same options that you listed. And by special I mean use port 443 instead of port 80. I'm using RT-AC86U's latest firmware. It's not by choice. It's because of the recent auto-update...

    DDNS with DNSOMATIC ???

    DNSOMATIC works for me on ASUSWRT. Never had an issue with past up to current firmware versions. I use same settings except for username I use email. Maybe it's a setting on DNSOMATIC side? How about create a new account and test? My system log: Sep 12 18:57:28 start_ddns: update...

    Attaching fans to AC68u. What tape/adhesive to use?

    :) Sorry the missus buys the veggies and we have a collection of rubber bands in the kitchen. But I'll pick celery because for my area the broccoli comes loose.

    Attaching fans to AC68u. What tape/adhesive to use?

    Sorry late to the game... I didn't use tape. I used two rubber bands wrapping both fans to the router. Specifically the blue ones from buying veggies. One on the top edge of both fans and another on the bottom edge.

    AC86U RT Firmware 3.0.0.4.384.81918

    @JiCiFR I also noticed the 5G speed rates between the node and main is better with my previous setup. According to the wireless logs, the 5G Tx and Rx rates are usually >1000M topping out at 1300M. Sometimes I do see sub 1000M but after a while it jumps back up to >1000M. On x81918, it seems...

    AC86U RT Firmware 3.0.0.4.384.81918

    I didn't have consistent service with this firmware. 2 x 86U's in wireless AiMesh, Smart Connect, fixed channels, fixed widths Issue is 5G stops working consistently, 5G devices would suddenly lose connection and a re-connect has mixed results. I also noticed at one point the node was using a...

    AImesh rt-ac86u -> rt-ac68u

    Here are some options I thought of: 1. Turn off roaming assistant for 2.4 This prevents your router from switching your client device to another router in the AiMesh network if the wifi signal is beyond a threshold. I'm guessing the TV might have issues switching back and forth. I've learned...

    AImesh rt-ac86u -> rt-ac68u

    Hello Don, I used to have similar AiMesh setup, except the node is 68R. Regarding your TV's wifi, does it have 2 wifi adapters? It seems like you have configured it to two different networks: the 5GHz wifi adapter is on one network and the 2.4GHz wifi adapter is on the ASUS network. I'm just...

    can not reset rt-ac68A/U

    Ok, looks like you've done everything possible to reset/re-initialize. How close were you to the router when you measured the wireless strength? Am I correct in assuming you were right next to the router? If so, looks like your router might be broken. If it is still under warranty, I would...

    can not reset rt-ac68A/U

    Just want to address the reset ... This is how I reset my RT-AC68R: 1. Turn it on and let it finish boot up 2. Press and hold the reset button 3. When power LED flashes, release reset button and let router finish boot up 4. Connect PC to LAN1 and connect to router admin, there should be a...

    Is the grass greener on the ASUS side?

    Good luck with your research! I do however want to give ASUS some credit. I agree with K-2SO that the 68 routers are solid. I started out with RT-AC68R and that worked beautifully. I then added RT-AC86U as main and moved 68R to node and that also worked beautifully. After that I ran into...

    Is the grass greener on the ASUS side?

    I finally got my 2 x RT-AC86U to function without any wifi breakdowns. It's been almost 30 days. The breakdowns at the time were: 2.4 not working within about 24 hours of node reboot. Sometimes 5 not working Sometimes the Wireless Log would be truncated. There would be nothing after the 2.4...

    ASUS RT-AC86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384_81369

    Thanks again OE! I am also sticking with 20 MHz. Actually my AiMesh wireless node right now is 68R. The reason is I wanted to take the 86U out of the rotation to run tests and also check if the bandwidth change would do anything. Also it was tiring to reset the 86U after every 24 hours or so. I...

    ASUS RT-AC86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384_81369

    Yes, I am glad ASUS stands by their warranty and I am impressed and thankful. I have replaced my 86U twice. Both times were 2.4 related. The first was the SSID and security would never match what I configured. The second was the 2.4 wireless would just die after about 24 hours when the 86U is...

    ASUS RT-AC86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384_81369

    Just noticed this... I was actually hoping for fixes to their 2.4GHz wireless which I believe is the cause of my past AiMesh node failures. Rant: It's great that there's a new feature to prioritize traffic for mission-critical applications due to the current environment. But without fixing the...
