Hi everyone, I now have a new issue that I was hoping the move to a newer router would fix. I'm using Asus Merlin Firmware on my RT-AC56U with Ai Disk enabled. I made a user account and apparently I does not work. I've made several accounts and cannot get user access. Admin logs in...

Thanks for the info guys. I was looking at Backup Assistance and NovaBackup Server. Anyone hear anything good about either of these? I'm hoping to save the permissions and active directory data for easy restoration. Thanks again, Crashed

    Backup software?

Firstly, I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this question, but there doesn't seem to be any area specifically for backup storage solutions around. I apologize in advance if I'm breaking a rule. I just would like to know if anyone can suggest or recommend any backup software for...

NAS box and Server backup suggestion

Hi everyone, I have 2 small Win2k3 servers I want to back up some files and folders, as well as Active directory. I just have a few concerns and am considering a 3rd party backup software solution along side a 2 bay NAS box. Is this a reasonable idea for a backup solution? Can I use 1...

Linksys E4200: 2 units dead, 5gz keeps dying

Not unless you use a voltage meter, otherwise you could try another outlet somewhere else in your home with a new router. Then again i assume your other routers worked fine on the same outlet right? How long did it take for each linksys router to fail?

Linksys E4200: 2 units dead, 5gz keeps dying

does it have the AVR, automatic voltage regulator on it? some UPS units don't have this (usually the cheaper models), while others do. The ground or wiring fault as it's usually called should be OFF, not ON. Depends on each UPS unit, but so far the ones I have seen Belkin and CyberPower....they...

Linksys E4200: 2 units dead, 5gz keeps dying

Only thing I can possibly think of is maybe you have an environment issue, like your power outlet is causing a issue? When it comes to electricity, you could have dirty current or small spikes in the current that might cause damage to your devices (some more than others maybe). Other than...

    ASUS RT-56U and VPN

Hi everyone, I'm curious and wondering if my Asus RT-56u is decent enough to make it work with a computer to setup a VPN. I just want to be able to access data and basic web based clients on my home pc when I'm out and about away from home. Any have a basic guide in doing this, or any...

Linksys E4200: 2 units dead, 5gz keeps dying

Honestly, if I was on my upcoming 3rd of anything, I would just move on to another brand/model. I was tempted to get the same router as you, but gave the Asus RT-56U a try and so far I haven't had any issues at all with it. While the Linksys may perform a bit better than most, its probably...

    ASUS RT-56U firmware question

Hi everyone, I bought the Asus RT-56u router a few months ago and so far no issues to report. I am now planning to set it up do to a VPN, and I went to check the firmware updates off Asus's US website, and oddly I'm seeing the latest firmware as 1.0.1.4. I currently show up having 1.0.1.5...

    Linksys E4200 or Asus RT-56U

Hi Guys, Wanted to give a heads up, I ended up going with the ASUS router, for now at least, a tad cheaper and all. So far it's running good, no heat issues. Sorry to hear about your issues Aphexacid, sucks. I have to say you are right when it comes to bad parts being everywhere, some more...

    Linksys E4200 or Asus RT-56U

Thanks for the input Aphexacid. I'm generally a Linksys guy, they seem to be the "safer" bet as far as reliability and coverage. Asus seems like a supped router, has a lot of neat USB features, ect. But now that you mention the heat, that is certainly a concern. I plan to mostly be in my...

    Linksys E4200 or Asus RT-56U

Hi everyone, So I'm stuck on deciding between these two routers. What would you guys pick between the two: Linksys E4200 - Seems nice, solid, and simple Asus RT-56U - Seems fast, solid, feature rich Hopefully by tonight I hope to carry one of these home to my apartment, where I'm...
