Mine particularly? You're saying nobody else is seeing this using Chrome or Firefox? - Tim

Router web page closes when click button to choose firmware upgrade...

In the latest major release (384.4 and beyond), in Chrome and Firefox, if I click on the "Browse" button to choose a firmware to install, the browser closes. This doesn't happen when I use IE, however. Is anyone else seeing this?

    Buggy RT-AC86U firmware...

As we all know, ASUS firmware tends to be quite buggy at first release. I decided to upgrade my venerable RT-N66U, and got an RT-AC86U (one of their newer routers). Setup went as expected; however, the DHCP Assigned IP settings only allow a maximum of 31 assigned IPs. It is supposed to allow...

    Asuswrt-Merlin - Project update

Well, other folks in this thread have discussed upgrading to this router as well. I would want to use AsusWRT-Merlin on it, so it's reasonably related; and there's a lot of people in this thread who know technical details about Asus routers, especially as it regards this firmware. :) - Tim

    Asuswrt-Merlin - Project update

I'm still using my good old RT-N66U (I have a reasonably small apartment, so don't need the signal to carry TOO far). However, I'm thinking of upgrading to the RT-AC86U. Anyone think I'd gain much, if I'm not a gamer and don't have a huge area to cover? I also have 8Mbps DSL here, so super...

Slow wired connection initialization on Windows when wake from sleep...

Hi all... With the last several versions of Merlin firmware, I've noticed that all the hard-wired Windows computers I have hooked up to my local network have started taking 20-30 seconds or more to connect when I start the computer or wake it from sleep. In the past, it would take just a...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I'm using 378.56_2 and it seems to work well, but wonder if I could get better performance if I did the above - if I saved my config for 378.56_2, flashed 378.53, then flashed 378.56_2 again, would reading the config file "break" anything? I don't know what the CFE is, so don't know if loading...

    378.56_2 on RT-N66U insanely slow... :-(

Haw haw haw ;-) My ISP is Sonic (sonic.net), which is one of the best in the country as far as customer service, technical know-how, and privacy concerns; also, they provide a shell account, which has access to my email folders, and I read my email with Pine - yes, I am a dinosaur, but a HAPPY...

    378.56_2 on RT-N66U insanely slow... :-(

Incidentally, I reverted to the latest main branch Merlin firmware, and found I still had the same problems I had been having before (slowness, lost packets), despite my having removed the issue of the landline causing problems on my DSL lines. When I went back to the fork, it was faster. So I...

    378.56_2 on RT-N66U insanely slow... :-(

It turned out it was my landline; I have Fusion service (bonded 2-line DSL), and one of the lines is split between the DSL modem and a telephone, with a filter between. I don't know why, but it appears that a couple of days ago, either the filter stopped working well, or the phone started...

    378.56_2 on RT-N66U insanely slow... :-(

I just talked with my ISP, and they said they were seeing a lot of line code violations on my DSL lines, so it may just have been something that happened around the same time as I updated my router firmware, and is not related. Talk about bad timing! I'll report back here what the eventual...

    378.56_2 on RT-N66U insanely slow... :-(

Ok, tried it. Still slow; but I'm beginning to suspect that it may just have been a coincidence, and that the slowness I'm seeing is due to other factors (equipment on my home network, ISP issues, possibly network path to my work computer, etc). I'll have to experiment more.

Ok then, I'll give it a try! :-)

    378.56_2 on RT-N66U insanely slow... :-(

Since I upgraded to 378.56_2 on my RT-N66U, my connectivity has been very spotty and undependable, slow and pokey. I posted about it earlier, someone suggested resetting to factory defaults and re-entering settings. I did that, and also did all of the performance-improving suggestions...

Can I go back to an earlier version of Merlin?

I am using the latest version of Merlin, but for some reason my entire network has become VERY VERY slow since I upgraded. I only upgraded one major version, I think. Is it possible to go back a major version? Or do you think this kind of thing is usually due to needing to do a hard reset and...

Slow web page rendering, httpd crashes - Merlin 378.56_2 on RT-N66U

I turned off all firewall and anti-virus, still happening. Also, since I updated to this version, network lag has been HUGE. - Tim

Slow web page rendering, httpd crashes - Merlin 378.56_2 on RT-N66U

I'm using Avast Premier, and I have "Web Shield" turned off, just "Filesystem Shield" and "Firewall" are turned on. It doesn't report blocking anything when this happens. - Tim
