Poll - what is the oldest level of 2.4Ghz Wifi currently in use

Good thing that you're not in charge, eh? This is likely a good situation for a FOFA response for the vendors - frack around and find out what does not work...

Poll - what is the oldest level of 2.4Ghz Wifi currently in use

They can be adjusted - that's openwrt, not QSDK or the MediaTek SDK - both of which are built on OpenWRT... You can play with things - but remember, there are rules to be followed - play around, and suddenly find out your IP cameras seem to have problems staying connected...

Poll - what is the oldest level of 2.4Ghz Wifi currently in use

Key point though - with Carrier Gateways - it does have impact, and at present, they're doing a better job about it... Meh - most folks never implemented 11v as it was generally unworkable... Most vendors have gone up a layer using IGMP snooping at the NIC interface...

Thermostat network problem, RT-AX88U Pro on 3006.102.4

I wonder if this is more a Broadcom/Asus optimization issue... most devices "should work" with some basic defaults... Having dug into the Broadcom closed source WL drivers - they do things their way...

Poll - what is the oldest level of 2.4Ghz Wifi currently in use

Consensus in WIfi-Alliance, IEEE 802.11 WG, and the Broadband Forum have all agreed to deprecate 802.11 legacy support for both wireless connectivity along with auth/encryption - e.g. let us remove 801.11b legacy rates - as OFDM rates have a much higher level of access - and getting rid of...

Poll - what is the oldest level of 2.4Ghz Wifi currently in use

Again - you're change 80211_MCAST, not 80211_BCAST - I've seen this very behavior on UNFI and others (it's a feature, right?? - most professional AP's (and course OpenWRT) - going legacy free is the default Another thought here is the whole CellDensity thing, where we can limit association...

Poll - what is the oldest level of 2.4Ghz Wifi currently in use

You realize that the AP is still broadcasting the CCK/DSSS management frames, not OFDM (g/n/ax/be) - just setting the multicast rate doesn't change that. If you can configure the AP directly at the hostapd level, disabling Legacy Beacon is a single switch...

Poll - what is the oldest level of 2.4Ghz Wifi currently in use

Just out of curiosity - folks that are still supporting 11b, what kind of devices?

Poll - what is the oldest level of 2.4Ghz Wifi currently in use

Wide Channels in 2.4 is a "thing" - but as you mention, there is a hit - 3 dB for Wide... And legacy requirements for 40Mhz channels is a mess with 11ax/11be
  12. sfx2000

Poll - what is the oldest level of 2.4Ghz Wifi currently in use

Interesting response to the thread/survey... My thoughts are to remove legacy - e.g. 802.11b... much of this goes to basic rates for 2.4 - we can jump from 1 Mb/sec to 6 Mb/sec - and this opens up airtime in congested networks...

WPA status - WiFi Security and WiFi7

Anyways - posted another poll that is related around 2.4GHz and legacy support https://www.snbforums.com/threads/poll-what-is-the-oldest-level-of-2-4ghz-wifi-currently-in-use.95030/ hint - 802.11b and WPA support for legacy devices will impact your overall WLAN... Get past that with OFDM over...

WPA status - WiFi Security and WiFi7

Always interesting to see that sometimes OpenWRT gets backport checkins... The vendor SDK's are ahead and behind where OpenWRT is on their respective release branches - just note that Mediatek and Qualcomm SDK's are forks of OpenWRT.

Poll - what is the oldest level of 2.4Ghz Wifi currently in use

Checking to see where we are with legacy devices for 2.4GHz... Yes, this leans into the WPA support poll, along with IPv6 support

Development news - reworked Connections log

No, just calling it as it is... happy to be working for free? "the code they provide me..." I suppose at the end of the day - they do consider you a fork of their tree, which I suspect is that they're doing - not the GPL drop in any means... GPL is what it is...
