Asus XT8 - latency on local WiFi network between hosts

update: It was not related to the XT8 but to Wireless Power Saving (802.11 power save mode): Linux and many other operating systems have a power saving mode for WiFi that can cause delays in packet transmission, especially for traffic within the local network. This is part of the 802.11 WiFi...

Asus XT8 - latency on local WiFi network between hosts

It doesn't really cause issues, but e.g. ssh feels laggy on the local network, while it should be very snappy. It's annoying, and should be easy enough to investigate for the firmware developers if it's easy to reproduce. Will try to contact their support team then.

Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.48706 (2022/05/03)

I also have the impression that they fixed an issue in this firmware where the WiFi 5.2 channel would disappear and never return when 160 MHz DFS was active and a radar event was detected. I notice that the channel changes now after detection of a radar event. Will leave 160 MHz on for a while...

Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.46061 (2022/01/14)

My experience with 46061 is more or less okay, running in AP-mode with ethernet backhaul. I get weird issues when enabling 160Mhz though, like some devices that are not pingable from some (not all) devices. Disabling 160Mhz seems to resolve this issue. Anyone knows what's going on? I see a lot...
